A World Vision children's choir came to my church today so I was interested to find out more. Growing up, my parents got mailings from them and supported their work but I never really found out much about them. When looking at promotional materials online it seems like they distribute a lot of UN aid. They also seem to have a very clean record, even that accusation against the Palestinian director about funneling funds to Hamas has been unproven when investigated by the Australian government and internal audits.
Does anyone know more details about the UN relationship? My understanding is that the UN is essentially a humanistic organization so as a worker for World Vision you would be distributing aid in both the name of World Vision and the UN. To me that would be a conflict of interest. If anyone has personal contact World Vision worker who can share their understanding their relationship to and motivation under this.
I came across an interesting article in somewhere like Newsweek that involved a journalist travel across Africa to find the reality of aid on the continent. He stated that the Christian aid workers had something different and deep about them he didn't see in the other workers.
Well, the choir was sublime. I look forward to hearing more.
