Let There Be Light!

On Aug. 21, America will have a full solar eclipse from Oregon to South Carolina. Seven years later, another eclipse will move from North to South making the shape of a Cross. The intersecting point will be over an area known as "Little Egypt” Illinois! The Bible tells us in Genesis that the Lord’s signs are in the sun, moon, and stars. (Luke 21:25) This is the first total eclipse since 1918 and World War 1. Eclipses are signs that repentance is needed and if ever a nation needed to repent….it would be America….TODAY! We have allowed the murder of 60 Million babies! We have allowed God and His Commandments to be thrown out of our government, our society, and our schools. We have allowed grown men to go into bathrooms with little girls! The City on a Hill has become the world’s largest purveyor of filth. And, we a justly Reaping what we have Sown.
A wise man declared, So goes the Pulpit, so Goes the Pew. So goes the Pew, so goes the Nation. The Church of Jesus Christ is to be the Light of the World and the Salt of the Earth. (Matt. 5:14). Yet the Church has gathered inside its four walls with a message to a government and an increasingly evil society that declares…..You don’t bother us and we won’t bother you. I see many preachers worrying more about offending people than they are about offending God! More concerned about packing a building then preaching the Truth. Jesus told the religious leaders of his day…”Woe when everyone speaks well of you…that is how your fathers treated the false prophets.” (Luke 6:26) George Barna found in his studies that while 90% of pastors declared that the travesties mentioned above were "Biblically Relevant”, LESS THAN 10% PREACHED ON THEM. The simple question is WHY? Is it a fear of the government? Wanting to be accepted by the very world that is doing these things and thus headed for a dark eternity? Entertaining Goats instead of Feeding Sheep? Protecting their 501C3 tax exemption?
Consider the following warning of Jesus to the religious leaders of His day:
"But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.” (Matt. 23:13)
A solar eclipse is the interaction of the Sun, Moon, and the Earth. The Sun is the Source of Light. The Moon has no light of its own but is to be a Reflector of that Light. The Earth can either be filled with Light or Darkness depending on the Sun and Moon. Who is the Source of all Light? God is of course. Who is the Reflector of this Light? The Church of Jesus Christ. Who is the Earth? Mankind.
Consider what happens in a total solar eclipse. The Moon which is supposed to be "reflecting” the Light of the Sun actually gets "in the way” and TOTALLY BLOCKS the Light…..Darkness on the Earth is the result. Is this a picture of what is happening? Is much of the Church, which is supposed to be a Reflector of God’s Light actually getting in the way of God’s light and actually Blocking it? Is much of the Church doing what the religious leaders of Jesus’s day did, by setting themselves up between God and mankind? The Bible declares there is only ONE MEDIATOR between God and Man…the Man Christ Jesus. I think it is time for much of the Church to get out of God’s Way and be His Reflection so that His Light can Shine on Mankind and dispel the Darkness that is covering the Earth.
"For behold, darkness will cover the earth And deep darkness the peoples; But the LORD will rise upon you And His glory will appear upon you. (Isaiah 60:2)
