Why is the Church not celebrating Reformation Day rather than Halloween

I have only very recently known that Reformation Day is the same time as Halloween.
Most Churches don't even mention the Resurrection during Passover time.
I have been through my entire life and never celebrated Reformation Day rather than Halloween as so many Churches celebrate halloween not knowing its roots, some celebrate an alternate Halloween party but none actually celebrate the Reformation as a christian we should as we have the bible in english and the aspect of Faith Alone and Grace Alone and the Solas should be celebrated.

I hear ya, brother! I posted something a couple weeks ago about it, but it didn't get any replies...lol.

Knowledge of our history and heritage is lacking. Interest in knowledge of our history and heritage is lacking.

I believe that, coupled with a desire to not be counter-cultural causes us to miss out on a time of celebration and rejoicing and thankfulness that we otherwise miss.

Thanksgiving is right on these same lines. It has diluted into a holiday about family getting together (which isn't bad), instead of a holiday where Christians celebrate the goodness and mercy of God.

Don't get me started on Christmas and Easter..........

I have been posting the Here We Stand srticles from John Piper. They cover the saints who have been instrumental in what we call the reformation.

I've always thought of the leading figures of the Reformation as being Wickliffe, Calvin, Luther, ect. Never realized that there were other men and women that God used during this time of history.

It makes me appreciate more how God used such men and women to bring us out of the darkness of Roman Catholicism and into the light of the gospel of Christ.

Without the Reformation we have sermons in Latin, we would have priests, Fathers and no Gospel

The church without the Gospel is basically a social club, how many so called churches are just social clubs with concerts and music and a pep talk.

Without the Reformation we would have no pastors, no congregations. We would be seating without a written bible in getting sermons from Stain Glass windows, paying indulgences and making allegiance to the pope

We are thankful for the Reformation as could you imagine what it would be like without it

Very sad indeed! I see it for the first time in my official schedule from the university, and I believe it is because this year marks 500 years since the Reformation took place. But very sad, i think that in Germany some evangelical people are perhaps even ashamed of the fact. It is almost "as if it has never been" or people want to ignore it?! Don't know but very sad... bearing in mind that Germany is the home country of Martin Luther!
