Wonderful sermon on the Holy Spirit

I think that perhaps Jim Cymbala is my favorite preacher today. He is very balanced. In this message he mentions how the devil has caused extreme imbalance in the church by getting some to go to one extreme of bizarre "manifestations of the Spirit" and when other churches see this nonsense they react by avoiding anything having to do with gifts, miracles, prophecies, etc. and settling for a type of cold dead formalism firmly planted in cessationism.

If I lived in the NYC area, I would attend his church. As great as Times Square Church is, I think I like Brooklyn Tabernacle a little more. And the fact that Jim never attended seminary encourages me. I am not knocking seminary, but the fact that God gave Jim on-the-job training and he oozes maturity and competence and love.

I'm NOT trying to put any competition between the two because their ministries are totally different but Carter Conlon never attended seminary either.

Thank you Greg for featuring this message by Jim Cymbala. What would the Church look like if pastors realized that they are not the head of their churches, but the Holy Spirit is wanting to lead and be in control?

Praise God for the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Guidance is something that we will never learn in a book. The Holy Spirit will check us when we are walking in a direction that is contrary to God's will, but He will also lead us in the way that we should go.
