Survey: How many Christian Students got there faith attacked at University in the UK and US

When I was at University, there was one house where all my uni friends were not saved so every single night they used to challenge me on different subjects from the Crusades to every possible subject you can think of.

There was even University Professors who challenged my faith over the issue of things as abstract as Computer Programming to attack that animals have languages just like human

One of the underlying things that drove me crazy was the propaganda to do with survival of the fittest and the underlying tones even in lectures not related to that subject.

Then there was the thing that was of my housemates was gay and having the gay and lesbian society round the house with the Rock Society round the house. Then standing up for my Christian beliefs during that time.

With the current culture even mentioning that you are a christian can do damage to your grades and your long term career if you even bring it up. They may say the opposite but I know it is true especially if you are doing things like a science major.

I wish I could tell you some of the stories, how god did miracles as our Christian Union grew massively, I spent over 750 pounds on Christian Books and I was doing Computer Science and Business.
I read most of the puritans and things like John Wesley's Journal and would literally download most of this website onto usb pen as I did not have an internet connection and go through one speaker at a time.

At uni you have not only got the attack with things like lust and worldly pleasures, you have a mental attack through the aspect of what subjects you are being taught, then you have the aspect that you are poor.

One of the issues that they always drove home at uni when regarding computer systems as all they are useful is for survival and as a human, all you value is simply to survive and when you are a poor student who barely has enough money to survive it really drills down into you.

Even today with that aspect of not being married, if you do not survive, have the atheists won.

The answer is no, There were friends who had stories of things levitating because there house mates was a witch or demonic things happening in there room, All I had to deal with was the stench of cannabis and the constant attack of my Christian Faith the entire time through university.

There was so many good aspects and one of them was my christian friends.

I would buy bibles in bulk because I used to listen to the bible on cd but my hardcopies of the bible would go missing because my housemates would steal them because they hated the scriptures that much. I always prayed for there salvation.

The other thing that was also prevalent was that you really who was a hypocrite they would go to nightclubs and then speak at church. You could really tell you want the world more than you want Christ and you are playing the Christian Game, this is everyone from the Christian Union President to others.

How many of you experienced this type of thing, your faith being attacked at uni, if you have work stories of your faith being attaked, what I am most interested in is that if you live in the Uk and have been to uni recently even in the last five years, is your faith still being attacked?

I know that where I was in canterbury had both a strong witchcraft and Christian heritage.

I found so many people who knew there theology but did not know Christ as there was people in canterbury who trained to be in this ministry and were hindus, lesbians and were training to be ministers in the church of england!

Theology is still important thou, you need both good theology and the holy spirit !

In my younger years, I had folks at my job attack my faith over and over. After a while the tables turned. Some of them were quite malicious...but God has a way of showing their folly. Some of their malicious taunting turned to out to arouse the anger of others who were not believers, but their means spirit angered the others and they came to my defense. One got so bad it almost ended in a fist fight outside the shop. But the malicious antagonist backed down and thought twice about attacking me.

Now, when I am attacked for my faith God has prepared me and I answer them. In the past they would put my bible, my faith and my beliefs to the test. Now I put their unbelief, their assumptions and their philosophies to the test. When the unbeliever attacks he usually has a motive that has nothing to do with the questions, he/she has another agenda and I like to probe them until God reveals to me what they are trying to prove.

A great deal of 'questions' are just grandstanding, the believer gets so worried about their funky questions they miss the obvious attempt to direct your fire elsewhere, while they escape unscathed from any real conviction or difficult questions that you might ask them.

A funny paradox about Christian apologetics has to do with the enemy directing your efforts to spend a great deal of time and energy creating flawless responses, detailed explanations, precise logical reasoning...all so that questions pertaining to their personal life, their past, sins and regrets are never mentioned. So while you devise answers to Dawkins, or Dennett's anecdotes the sinner sits safely far removed from love and conviction.

I am not hereby negating apologetics, I am saying some of it is helpful to Satan because the Christian is misdirecting his fire and the sinner is only devising more diversionary questions to ask.

Sinner: Well, uh, yea...but now lets take what you said and work from a multiverse platform, how do you answer this situation when...?
Christian: Ok, I'll have to get back to you on the multiverse theory, but lets talk about ultimate causation and contingency theory...
Satan: This is going according to plan!

My experience was very different in college however, as soon asi first believed in kindergarten, I rebuffed. I remember coming to class and telling my teacher about the truth of Genesis, the Flood and the lifespans of pre-Flood humanity. I remember her making a comment about "their years weren’t as long as they are today.” It wasn’t a discussion or debate but it stuck with me that being a Christian will mean standing for the truth regardless of popularity. I didn’t have a lot specific persecution related to the Gospel but I was mocked through grade school for not knowing the meaning of or using swears and cursing. My parents were very careful to discipline us not use them and even protected us from knowing their meanings. I certainly wasn’t any worse for it.

For me college was a time of intense spiritual training and extended time in the Word. The Spirir taught me many things that I have learned that far my elder never learned. Whenever I hear that the Spirit has told someone that He will be teaching them, it makes me so happy because I know He teaches so well and so quickly.
