The middle east doesn't fear America, especially since Israel has enough nuclear weapons to blow up the world, just do a little research, you will see. Even the USA could not tell Israel to discontinue their nuclear program. There is an organization out there that has a write up called, The World's Most Mysterious Nuclear Weapons Program (And It's Not North Korea)...it's Israel.
The best advice I ever got bear regarding eschatology was to find out WHAT the day of the Lord is and WHEN it occurs. All is built around it and it forms the hub of OT eschatology and was the backdrop for the proclamation of all NT eschatology. All roads lead to the day of the Lord. It is the day of His appearing or the second coming. Knowing WHEN it occurs and what happens decisively settles the question of the timing of the rapture. See II Thessalonians chapter two which gives a gargantuan clue as to what must occur first before the day of the Lord. We can afford to say with confidence what must occur first. Christ's coming cannot presently be said to be imminent as in there is nothing left to be fulfilled before He comes.
