Who Will Speak for Me?

Martin Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for this quotation:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out””Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out”” Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out”” 
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me””and there was no one left to speak for me

I would like to add

Then they came to persecute our brothers and sisters in Christ--- yet if I don't speak out, when they come to persecute me--- who will stand on my behalf?

In the current world situation, we as a body of Christ would do well to heed that warning.
