The Ulster Revival of 1859

"Revival historian, Edwin Orr, noted that the Revival of 1859 made a greater impact on Ireland than any event since Patrick brought Christianity there. Through the work of God in the hearts of four new converts who were moved to seek God in prayer, 100,000 souls came to Christ in one year. This is the extraordinary story of this stirring, reviving and outpouring of the Spirit of God that came to be known as "The 1859 Ulster Revival”.

Before this Revival, there was little to encourage genuine believers. They had prayed and laboured hard for many years with little result or change to the spiritual
condition. Many ministers were discouraged with a seemingly fruitless ministry." (Keith Malcomson)

Revival will only come if there is a dissatisfaction of our current spiritual state and the moral condition of the Church and our cities.

True revival begins in us as we repent of our sins and hunger and thirst after God.

As we come together in corporate prayer meetings praying for revival, God will begin a sovereign work in us and the fire will spread through prayer and testimony.

We should never despise small beginnings, but seek after God with all of our hearts. God will manifest Himself to all those that hunger and thirst for Him.

"Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down, That the mountains might quake at Your presence--" (Isaiah 64:1)

Revival comes

The prayers of those who are awake praying for the sleeping
The prayers of those who are alive praying for those spiritually dead
The prayers of those who are repenting praying for those who have not repented
The prayers of those who are praying are praying for those who are prayer-less.

God hears the few in order to pour out his Spirit on the many. God answers the remnant in order to bring in a great harvest.
