REVIVAL STARTS WITH YOUR YES... THOUGHTS FROM Brownsville revival.

There have been many definitions assigned to revival over the years.. FOr the sake of the journey here, I want to think of it in terms of a reintroduction to normal. This is exactly how Dr. Michael Brown and Pastor John Kilpatrick observe it.. Dr Brown described revival as "A SEASON OF UNUSUAL DIVINE VISITATION RESULTING IN DEEP REPENTANCE, SUPERNATURAL RENEWAL, AND SWEEPING REFORMATION IN THE CHURCH, Along with the radical conversion of sinners in the world, often producing moral, social, and even economic change in the local or national communities."
Dr Michael Brown

Pastor Kilpatrick explains revival is 'Not church as usual" When revival comes it exchanges the old 'usual'for the new 'usual' When revival comes some of what accompanies it would be considered 'abnormal' or unusual. Why? Its been so long since these things were usual in the church and in our lives that we have labeled them as unusual. By God's grace, the unusual is starting to become usual again." A few things revival is not..
Revival is not a series of special meetings at church. Revival is not what a church does a few times a year to draw in new converts (Although we celebrate true conversions they take place. Revival is not about the unusual, physical manifestation that tend to happen when people "Touched by the Holy SPirit,"

A.W.Tozer made this most relevant observation about praying for revival. "HAVE YOU NOTICED HOW MUCH PRAYING FOR REVIVAL HAS BEEN GOING ON OF LATE.. AND HOW LITTLE revival has resulted? I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SUBSTITUTE PRAYING FOR OBEYING AND IT SIMPLY WILL NOT WORK..

The Brownsville "revival" was counterfeit with many demonic manifestations. John Kilpatrick told the Bible Answer Man Hank Hanegraff that God would slay him within a certain amount of days for speaking against it. After the time elapsed, nothing happened to Hank, of course.

Like the phony Toronto Blessing or the bogus meetings of Benny Hinn, Rodney Howard-browne, & Todd Bentley, the Brownsville revival was utterly false. There are hours and hours of video footage of the folly of these on YouTube. Here is only one such example:

Dear Calvary.com.
I am sorry if u feel.. this way.. IF you study all revivals.. There are wheat and tares there always.
I respect the fact that I know people who were there personally and were changed.. So.. May we all see how the LORD moves and the enemy is always there to cause division in all moves of GOD..
Revivals are like church.. as soon as we get there its not perfect... GOD knows.. I m blessed many were changed and are still moving in the TRUTH and freedom that they received from the revival.. May the fire never sleep in us all.
May we all take the meat and spit out the bones..
Blessings.

The Brownsville "revival" was counterfeit with many demonic manifestations."

Brother,

If you would have ever visited the Brownsville Revival, you would know that what you are saying is false. Of course if you want to see what is not of God in a revival, that wouldn't be hard to do, because the devil has his counterfeits in every true move of God in an attempt to to delegitimize any true true revival.

We attended the Brownsville Revival on several occasions. We experienced the presence of God even outside the church. Many sinners were being saved each night. Strong evangelistic preaching by Steve Hill. Yes, repentance preaching! many backsliders coming back to to the Lord.

So brother you can read the heresy hunter columns and have opinions on what you know nothing about, but the good fruit was there, and Michael Brown and John Kilpatrick are mighty men of God to this day, and Steve Hill has gone on to be with the Lord.

"Prove all things and hold fast to that which is good."

Did you watch the video?

Can you point to a Brownsville revival video that you endorse as edifying for the forum to watch? If so, please do.

Steve Hill Preaching At Brownsville Revival:

This is an example of messages preached night after night in which hundreds of people would run to the altar to be saved.

I watched them, but don't care for Steve Hill's pushy, bullying approach. If people were genuinely won to Christ, great, but I found it to be quite a turnoff. At least no one was twitching out in those videos. However, I have seen hours of John Kilpatrick & Steve Hill videos (excerpts are in the link I shared - please watch it and comment on it) where there are bizarre manifestations.

One video I own has Steve Hill yelling at Kilpatrick, saying, "I need you working, brother!" until he 'zaps' Kilpatrick unconscious. I have no interest in sorcery.

At the very beginning of your second video link Steve Hill uses the Lord's name with the word "d*mn" (which is quite off-putting to me).

But this is all old news.

Frannie, I'm not discouraged at all. My joy is in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Theologically, one could call me a Classical Pentecostal. Bert Clendennen, founder of the School of Christ International, was one of the finest preachers I have ever heard (and known). He openly denounced false revivals like this, as did David Wilkerson (see "The Reproach of the Solemn Assembly," for instance).

Brother Alec,
Glad u are not discouraged..
You have to believe what u do and I have to believe what I do.. In the end all things will be revealed.. May God get the glory and be glorified in every move of GOD.. What I do know is the Pensacola was once the abortion capital of the USA... Sounds like GOD moved to me...
So... its not the abortion capital now..
God's Got this..
Blessings to you.

David Wilkerson’s Comments On Steve Hill:

Many false accusations were made concerning the Brownsville Revival and Steve Hill:

FACT: When Reverend David Wilkerson, the founder of Teen Challenge who has known Steve Hill for more than 20 years, learned that the Journal was accusing Steve Hill of being a phony who falsified his testimony, he immediately responded with this letter dated November 19, 1997: "To Whom It May Concern: Steve Hill was a debilitated, stoned addict when he first surrendered his life to Christ. He became an active worker with our ministry, helping rescue other addicts and alcoholics. Though many of his old friends had died, he related well to the street addicts, having been a drug pusher and having spent time in jail. Steve graduated from our Bible school in Texas. He has always been diligent and faithful. His story of deliverance from drug addiction and crime is a true testimony to the power of the gospel of Christ. One thing I know for sure ”“ Steve Hill is not a phony!"

That letter was written in 1997. The "Reproach" sermon was preached afterwards when video footage was sent to him. Wilkerson was quite grieved with what he saw, as evidenced in the sermon.

But this is all old news.

Alec,

You have your mind made up, so I am not trying to change your mind, but I will present the truth and facts whenever I see true brothers in the Lord slandered.
