Checking for counterfiets

I reciently posted a question that centered around Jesus only. There was no place for backbiting, bickering or even debating. That post only got 1 response, how sad. A dear friend of mine was telling me how the (American FBI) feds check for counterfiet bills. I asked him how DO they check to see if one's not real? His response was this: "what they do is study REAL currency, in so doing they will be able to spot easily the counterfiet bills". Observation: I've seen an increased and unhealthy interest in the negative aspects of our common faith. This is what I mean. Sin, repentance, questioning ministers, and bandstanding ideals that are more worldily than godly. Now there is a need for some of these, however that seems to be the only thing we want to talk about. I believe that's unhealthy spiritually. Like the FBI I believe we need to be looking more at the the geniune article and getting to know Him, aspects of His character , deeds, nature. Get into the very mind of Christ to really know what it is He's thinking, doing, saying. Then everything else will take care of itself. Let ALL THINGS be done to edifying one another. This is my own testimony.I used to be so concerned about how to be able to discern cultic thinking, or counterfiets, as you call it. So I studied the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. There I am gripped with the holiness of God and the sinfulness of man. As I study the prophets, I find their messages so timeless...what the people needed then, they need today. In other words, man has not changed and neither has God. Then I love to read Revelation. There we see Jesus in all his splender and glory! I am filled with awe and once again I am left feeling so little, unworthy. Jesus is so holy and how holy am I? only as holy as I allow the Holy Spirit to cleanse me, fill me and use me. And that is the rub. Yes, studying the scriptures intently will teach us more then studying all the lit available on this issue. If there is a shortcut in acquiring knowledge, this is it.This is my opinion based on my life's experiences. ginnyrose

Many a good posting goes the wayside and gets overlooked and lost because these other things seem to have more of a draw, controversy, the easier to propound upon negative aspects... it does seem out of balance. Amen! While it's necessary to expose and protect against the false, it is disheartening to see forums solely engaged in this. The most popular threads seem to be the ones that spark controversy and inspire everyone to "contend for the faith" while those simple "handmaiden" like threads simply concerned with devotion to Jesus Christ get hardly a viewing.This is just a thought, but if we set our eyes upon Jesus and immersed ourselves in His word, not only would we produce tremendous devotion in our lives and have true bread to bring to the forums, but wouldn't this also, as a natural consequence, take care of the false teaching that is all around us? edit:Turn your(King James Plural 8-) ) eyes upon JesusLook full in His wonderful face,And the things of Earth will grow strangely dimIn the light of His glory and grace

Hello,I am new here, but I wanted to comment on this topic because it has been a burden on my heart.I wanted to share an all too familiar statistic:At my home church, We have 1200 members500 attend on Sunday morning150 attend on Sunday night50 attend on Wednesday5 show up for weekly witness/visitation program.I pray to God about this and while I do not want to judge anyone, I can't help but be burdened by the number of people who have joined the church but have no desire for the church. I pray for a revival in this country that would shake complacent christians into repentance. I can speak first hand about this because I was complacent for a long time. Anyway, off my soapbox. I just want to encourage all of you to pray for God to move.Thanks

Actually I think the whole forum can be that way. But remember, even correction can be uplifting. What is more comforting on a dangerous coastline to a sailor than a lighthouse that serves to WARN.
