And THEY THAT ARE CHRIST’s .....?

E
Elibeth May 22, 2019

Gal.5:24,
"And *they* that are Christ's ,....’have’ crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”
~~~~~~~~~~~
Really ??.......\\ *THEY*.... that are Christ’s,..... *WE* that are Christ’s,...
~~~~~~~~~~~
Are we Christ’s?
Isn’t this kind of talk VERY SERIOUS ???
~~~~~~~~~~~
What do you / we make this out to be ?
~~~~~~~~~~~
To me it sound’s like *kingdom Living ?
Sounds like the *gospel of the kingdom that Paul was preaching / teaching.
A place, ...in The Spirit, where The King, who is Jesus rules, and is Lord.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am seriously considering this today.
Isn’t it truly worthy of our consideration ?
Gal. 5:24,"And *they* that are Christ's ,....’have’ crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”
SHOCKING but 100% true!!!!
Notice that "have crucified" is PAST TENSE. Nothing to be done in the future but something that HAS ALREADY TAKEN PLACE.
YES this is an accomplished fact. The question is do you believe this or do you believe a lie of the devil instead?
The work of Christ on the cross is 100% complete and total. Everything that needed to die - actually died!! Nothing was left out. The first Adam has no influence or power over us at all.
We have been crucified - this is the old man - the old self - that thinks it is independent from God.
This crucifixion is actual and real NOT potential. When Christ was crucified and died, He was truly and actually crucified and died. There was NOTHING potential about it it. We were IN Him so when He was crucified and we were crucified in Him. When He died we died in Him.
Now this death was totally complete and an utter death. Everything that needed to die actually died. Everything that needed to cease was ceased. Nothing was left out. This means that all this old I, The old man-self, and the 1st Adam could NEVER become alive again or somehow ever be resurrected again.
Now we walk in crucifixion second by second (taking up the cross).
We have been raised with Christ. His LIFE is now our only life!
Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: (my old self - the old man - the Adam nature was totally and completely crucified and died with Christ - what was needed to die is now dead and never can be resurrected again) neverthless I live; (I am still here) yet not I, (the Christ infused I because I have been made ONE by God in Christ and no separation exists between us. I am now in reality one with the person of Christ) but Christ liveth in me: (YES! His Life within me is now my real and only life) and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, (HE IS MY LIFE and He is my LIVING CONNECTION to God the father. He is the author - initiator and finisher of my faith - His faith is my faith.) who loved me (and pours out his love on me and within me second by second every day), and gave himself for me. (This is a continually giving of HIMSELF to me in a never ending discovery of HIM inside me that just keeps unfolding and keeps giving).
Dear Vern,
I am not quite understanding,...
Are u saying :
You have a single *eye on Jesus, in your life, and His will ??
Or,.. Are you saying *you can or *have a double life?
*Crucified,.. The cross, (death) that we are to *take up daily,,...
is *The Way, that Jesus has taught, is the way that u are *seeing this ?
Yes this is correct. Our Flesh was never put to death. If the Bible tells that then I will call it a lie and quit being a Christian. How can I believe in a false teaching! I see my flesh live and active in me!
When we are born again, our old man was put to death by God. But the flesh is still the same. We have to put it to death by taking up the cross. In Gal 5:24, Paul is confidently saying that those who are abiding in Christ have crucified their fresh. If not we cannot abide in Christ at all. Every instant we have to have our flesh crucified.
Crucifixion is not sudden death. When a person is crucified, he does not die immediately. It takes hours for a person to die. Same is the condition of our flesh. It does not die but remains alive all our life. A strong person when crucified, will try to come out of the cross by all his strength. Our flesh to comes out of it but we have to keep hammering the nails and keep it glued to the cross.
I do have a single *eye on Jesus, in your life, and His will.
I do not have a double life That is impossible. A person can be deceived into thinking that but it is a lie.
I have NO life outside of Jesus Christ because Christ is my only life that is possible.
Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
This is a second by second standing FIRM in what God in Christ has already done. We are TOTALLY FREE NOW because HE hath (past tense) has made us free. Let us walk in that freedom.
Yes dear sister that is how I took your post,... that you were indeed already examining yourself as your words brought that scripture to mind.
Nonetheless we would all do well if we were to heed the many warnings found in the scriptures-
Heb 1:3, "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding (sustaining) all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:"
Let us see what this word sustain/uphold really means.
Jesus bears me up from or as from below; Jesus upholds me; Jesus supports me; Jesus sustains my load. Jesus keeps me from falling, or sinking; Jesus sustains my weight. Jesus keeps me from sinking into despondency; Jesus sustains me by hope. Jesus maintains and keeps me up. Jesus maintains me with undiminished force or intensity for my lifetime and forever by a sustained effort. Jesus maintains and supports me with the needs of life. Jesus aids, comforts, and relieves me. Jesus suffers under, bears, and undergoes me. Jesus endures for me without failing or yielding; Jesus bears up under for me.
The definitions of uphold do not add anything to these definitions of sustain. They are basically the same word in English, sustain from Latin and uphold from Saxon. Thus, let's include the definitions of generate (for "bring forth"), bear, and carry.
Jesus begets, procreates, and propagates me; Jesus produces me. Jesus causes me to be; Jesus brings me into life. Jesus originates me by life processes.
Jesus supports and moves me; Jesus carries and conveys me. Jesus renders and gives me; Jesus brings me forward. Jesus conducts and brings me. Jesus manages, wields, and directs me. Jesus possesses and uses me. Jesus possesses and carries me as a mark of distinction. Jesus carries and holds me in His mind. Jesus carries on and maintains me. Jesus gains and wins me. Jesus supports, sustains, and holds me up. Jesus is answerable for me. Jesus admits me; Jesus is capable of me. Jesus brings forth and produces me.
Jesus carries my burden and suffers for me. Jesus withstands strains and bears against testing for me. Jesus endures difficulties with patience for me. Jesus means, intends, and effects me. Jesus presses up against for me. Jesus takes effect, maintains influence and force for me. Jesus bears me and produces me as His fruit.
Jesus conveys and transports me. Jesus conducts, leads, and guides me; Jesus escorts, moves, and causes me to go forward. Jesus transfers me from one place to another. Jesus takes me the distance in a single stroke. Jesus conveys me by extension and continuance; Jesus extends me. Jesus possesses and obtains me; Jesus wins and captures me. Jesus supports and sustains me; Jesus holds me while He moves about from place to place; Jesus contains me and carries me about inside Himself. Jesus carries me as a mother carries a child in her womb. Jesus carries me as His attribute and property, His show or exhibit. Jesus holds me high. Jesus sustains my weight and burden. Jesus produces me as a crop; Jesus supports me with sustenance. Jesus makes me good and valid.
I thank Him that He is NOW doing all that within me and He will NEVER cease doing it!!!
Hoping to clarify for any/all whom may misunderstand your posts...
How do you respond to scriptures like, Romans 8:13?
Where two paths are clearly being contrasted,... with the desirable one requiring us to do something albeit in conjunction with the spirit-
E
Elibeth May 23, 2019
Vern,
I know this will be a very pointed question,.. with all due respect, ... but very important , because I truly want to help, could u please consider this ?
~~~~~~~~~~
*How did you come to the conclusion that you hold ?
~~~~~~~~~~
When The Lord’ drawed you,.. called you by His ‘Grace’....
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Did you go down,.. down,..in a deep death, in your flesh- thoughts,.. to yearn for His thoughts / judgements in matters with Him,....
so that He could ‘raise’ you / me up IN Him ?...to know longer be your own,
But to "put my yoke upon you / us and learn (disciple) of me”...learn of His Way [s] ?,... make all things new,.. born again,.. of His Spirit,.. His Way, His thinking,...death to me,... live,.. Life to God.
~~~~~~~~~
(Who can keep us from falling , .. but if we fall, He picks us up)
~~~~~~~~
(I found , that is what "Grace” does, ... it is a ‘working’ gift.)......a powerful gift),...it comes from the very Spirit of God.,.. an enabling gift. )
~~~~~~~~
,.... can’t we recall, the strength of His drawing,..? (Grace),... we sure can,
Unmistakably !!
~~~~~~~~

Could we possibly follow after a ‘tradition’?,... What has come before us ?
~~~~~~~~~~
I do not wish to offend,....NO ! Not at all !
~~~~~~~

. but please considered these most dire thoughts.
... they truly are a life or death situation .

Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Mortify the deeds of the body - treat as dead is the same as reckoning.

Rom 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

It is impossible to reckon or treat something as dead if that something is not already dead. You can not kill a dead thing.

S

It is impossible to reckon or treat something as dead if that something is not already dead. You can not kill a dead thing.

I do not want to involve in theological debates but this statement is logically incorrect! You do not need to reckon something as dead if it is already dead. Here we are even asked to reckon our self to be dead to sin. Not that reckon our flesh to be dead to sin. Our flesh is still active, living and healthy. That is why it says further,

8:12 So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh”” 13 for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit YOU ARE PUTTING THE DEEDS OF THE BODY, you will live.

Clearly here we are commanded to put to death. The exact subject of discussion here is to carry the cross daily and consider our self dead to flesh. This is Man's responsibility. Look here the tense is also continuous. Which means we need to keep doing it daily.

J
JFW May 23, 2019

Yes Amen!
This is also my understanding of these passages of scripture and the means or method by which we are to "mortify” (put to death) our flesh (self) is found in the next verse :)

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

By listening to and obeying the word of God 😇

This business of "believing” things that are practically demonstrable as being false is foreign to me-

C
cup May 23, 2019

Rom 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify (treat as dead) the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

I am led by the Spirit of God(continuously)and am a Son of God.

I do not live after the flesh.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. I walk in the spirit and do not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Since I walk in the Spirit the flesh becomes a nonissue for me.

J

Ok Vern,
When was the last time you did something/anything that God Himself did not direct you to do personally by way of His spirit?

C
cup May 24, 2019

Let me answer your question this way. I am just a branch, a clay pot and a cup. I am an earthen vessel. What makes these things valuable is the LIFE OF CHRIST that is contained in them and flows through them.

2 Cor. 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

2 Cor. 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

I am NOT my own source. I am NOT self sufficient. I am NOT independent of God. I do not think I am something when I am nothing.

Gal 6:3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself..

I do not think of myself more than I ought to think.

Rom 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

I was given and have embraced God’s precious promises and I am now a partaker of God’s divine nature and have now escaped the corruption that is the world through lust,

2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

I have zero confidence in my flesh or my own ability to please God for I am completely dead because Christ is in me.

Rom 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

I have been made one with Christ. I am infused and totally saturated with HIS LIFE. He is in me and I am in Him.

1 Cor. 1:30 It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. NIV

"God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made Him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; He made us pure and holy and He freed us from sin. NLT
I am boasting in what God has done in Christ.

I have been perfected forever and am sanctified.

Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

I walk in the light as He is in the light and there is no darkness in me. I am being continuously washed in His blood from all sin.

1Jo 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

I draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having my heart sprinkled from an evil conscience, and my body washed with pure water. I hold fast the profession of my faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: (my old self - the old man - the Adam nature was totally and completely crucified and died with Christ - what was needed to die is now dead and never can be resurrected again) neverthless I live; (I am still here) yet not I, (the Christ infused I because I have been made ONE by God in Christ and no separation exists between us. (This is a continually giving of HIMSELF to me in a never ending discovery of HIM inside me that just keeps unfolding and keeps giving).

I could go on and on telling you of all the things that God in Christ has done for me and you but unsure if that is what you are looking for.

God does remember any of my sins and neither do I.

J
JFW May 24, 2019

Gonna be honest,... the number of "I”’s you employed (referencing yourself in order to talk about God) seems more telling than your words-

Honestly not trying to be a jerk or in any way be contentious with you, however what you are proposing (believing) lacks consistency with reality.

You see that simply pronouncing these proclamations over yourself or on behalf of yourself doesn’t make them practically applicable to your life in reality unless you are actually, literally moment by moment listening to and obeying the voice of Jesus. Full stop-
This is what it means to have "my steps directed”, to "walk in the promises”, to "keep step with the spirit” etc... these aren’t just hyperbolic metaphors describing some abstract personal experience- rather this is the real practical, tangible, literal way God the Father directs the steps of His children! Or put in another way this is how the kingdom is advanced.... anyone who is under actual, literal, personal, direct orders of the King are themselves, with each step taken in obedience, literally advancing the Kingdom.
Think 🤔 of it in terms of a military officer- if one is enlisted into service and is clothed in the official uniform and is performing duties, then there is (rightly) an assumption that person is under direct orders of a superior, who themselves are under orders all the way up to the highest office (President). Now if you have an enlisted servicemen who is clothed in the official uniform and performing duties but is not under orders... he took it upon himself to decide and act upon his own will all while utilizing his position as an enlisted service member as a backstop of credibility, integrity, authority,wisdom, etc... he is a fraud! When found out he will be tried in a military court at the least for insubordination and possibly for treason -
Now just imagine if an enlisted serviceman said what you are saying,.... "but I am a military officer, I’ve been forever enlisted into service of my president” they would say yes that was true but you violated the terms of service and as such did not abide in/under the direction of your superior but instead took it upon yourself to act of your own accord all while benefiting from the assumption that we sent you and you were under orders from us, but you were not and as such we "don’t know you”.

You see Vern this is a serious mistake with grave consequences and wether by choice, deception, mental disorder, or otherwise it is plainly intellectually dishonest.
Much like Bruce Jenner "believes” he’s a woman... now he’s gone to allot of trouble and no small expense to convince others and maybe even himself that it is so,... but at the end of the day he is still a he no matter what he believes- interestingly there are allot of "Christians” whom have, like Bruce, gone to allot of trouble and no small expense to convince others that they are indeed "Christians” but they are not and never were, its plain to see that for one reason or another they are lying to themselves. Now much like the current culture has come to the defense of those whom suffer from gender dysphoria saying they don’t have a disorder and one is being mean and themselves have a disorder to say so, likewise a culture has grown around the "church” defending and justifying those who believe they are Christians yet their lives are obviously not "under orders of the King” no matter what they believe or how well they speak christianese and like an icing, smear it all over a cake made by their own will - for anyone much less the body of Christ to go along with this is not in any way the love of God, but is an affront to the cross of Christ and every word in the Bible not to mention practical holiness and righteous living-
