Giving God praise!

Isn't God good!Can we not be the most blessed people on the face of the earth?Just the mere fact that we are all God's children, those of us who have been given that amazing title.Been having a little discussion with our beloved webmaster Greg on various scriptures in the book of John. Personally it is my favorite book of the bible. The past few days have been a time of awe and wonder, a stirring of spirit, that vauge sense of God's presence and a build up of worship.I think I just needed to vent somewhere this inspiration. Perhaps to see if this joy is prevalant amongst us or maybe just latent and in need of encouargement.Much of our discussion is on the vast and endless themes of our faith and I praise God for all that contribute, for the sharing of wisdom and knowledge, for the brotherhood and sisterhood of the brethren.Today I would like to interject a different 'topic'."Giving God praise!"What are your favorite scriptures in regards to worship, that stir a sense of wonder, awe and praise to the Lord? And why?Of the many, two that continually cause me to stop and ponder are: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God." John 1:1,2 "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14With apologies to my friend, this is what I had shared with him earlier."I think John 1 and then a jump to 14 prove the validation of inspiration, that these are the words of God, what man could ever have come up with "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,...." That is just mind blowing, even now, even after reading it a thousand times. It is so profound, so amazing!"Praising God this day.Mike

Hi crsschkDon't think you going to get much of 'debate' on this one, just lots of 'Amens'.One of my favourites is this"thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shalt thou serve"I consider the wonder of "thou". Who? this rebel and renegade? this 'chief of sinners'? Something from deep within says 'Yes. thou art the man' and something within cries 'Amen'. If He says 'thou shalt' then I can say 'I will'.The ancient commands have become promises.

I've not heard the Charles Price sermons. BTW here's something that perhaps not everyone will appreciate in the same way but I have thought of mentioning to you before. I suppose in the course of a year I get to listen to less than 10 sermons; most weekends I am preaching in churches other than the one I call 'home'. Even when I am 'home' I often preach there too. This is probably true for many preachers; we hardly ever get the opportunity to listen to other preachers.Enter.. sermonindex. To listen to the insights and passion of other men is a tremendous challenge and encouragement. Sometimes you find yourself saying things you have never heard before and then to hear the same truths in an audio file is a wonderful encouragement. I am looking forward to making regular sermon-listening a regular part of my schedule. Iron sharpens iron and it is not good for man (any man) to be alone. Here's one that I was reading recently that caused me to stop and just praise the Lord.Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.When I think of Jesus rejoicing over me with singing and that we as a body bring rest to His heart, I am left in total awe. I can't think of anything I would rather see than my Savior rejoicing.In Christ,Ron

What an incredible thought!
