Christian ears around so please...

Disciple a christian band had this sticker on their tourbus"Christian ears around, so please watch your language"anyway i had a question and please help! i would really appreciate this! :-)when friends or someone nearby uses Gods Name in vain as a curse word, what can you say?i said somethimes "well i wouldn't say it like that" or "he couldn't you say it in a different way"but i find it not that bold, i mean, to be honest, somethimes i don't react on it, but i want to say something that makes them think on what they say.so please if you have suggestions of what you can say to someone who is using Gods name in vain, (in a conversation where you are involved in) let me know please!it would be really great if you could help me with this!in His LoveWilliamp.s.i'm a taxi driver, and somethimes people really are boldly evil in the way they speak, conversations, and use Gods Name in vain in almost every line.

Ray Comfort (in one of his sermons) would walk up to the person and say, "Hey, is this a religious meeting?". They would reply, "No". He would say, "Well, it must be, because you are talking about God."

We need to respond to God's name in vain by saying:"Do you believe in God?" It practically starts a witnessing opportunity for you!p.s. I am going to start saying, "Jesus Christ, I have a savior by that name!" lol

I try to use it as an open door, not just to let them know i don't appreciate it, but rather, "Hey, let me introduce you to Him" kind of approach (letting them know in the course of the discussion that it does in fact violate His commands).Where do you drive taxi, bro?

Disciple,I have been wondering about his myself lately. I remember about a year ago I was visiting an old friend from my childhood and at one point he says, "Jesus Christ!" in a kind of negative and frustrated tone. I didn't know what to say. I felt guilty about it for a long time because I didn't really confront him about it. I have prayed about this very thing over the last week like, "God, if I hear someone do that, help me respond well."I don't think we are commanded to respond at all. But it might be best at times. But I think we simply have to be led by the Spirit for it to be effective. I've heard Ray Comfort be like, "Are you having a religious conversation?" (or something like that) to confront them, but I think that's if you overhear someone say it like in a public place. But what if someone you know and are talking to says it? I don't think we have to respond, I don't think we're under obligation to, but again it might be the best thing to do.I just was thinking if I'm having a conversation with someone about whatever and they say, "Jesus Christ!" like in that flipant way, I might say something like, "Interesting you bring that up. I was hoping to talk to you about Him." Or something like that. But I don't know. I will probably pray more about this.But if it's someone I don't personally know, like a taxi driver, then that might not be the best response. Because unless the drive is long, you might not get a chance to talk about Jesus. Maybe when you're getting out of the taxi you could say something like, "I heard you mention the name "Jesus" and/or "Christ" during the drive over here. The Bible says that one day you will stand before Him alone in judgement, and give an account for your life and every word you speak. Think about that." And maybe just leave it at that. But again, that might not be the best response because it might just be a religious form or method and if not led by the Spirit in the specific situation it might just make things worse for the driver. I don't know, but there's some ideas. Good question I think. I'm glad you asked it.

Oops, sorry Disciple. I didn't realize YOU are the taxi driver. In that case I really don't know what would even be a good idea to say. Unless specifically led by the Spirit, if I really just felt like saying something I would probably be very gracious in my speech like some have mentioned here. Like, "Do you guys go to Church? Do you read the Bible? How do you know about Jesus Christ?" and maybe start kind of like that. Wow, people sure responded quickly to your post.

I don't have any formula, per sé.On a bus once, a young lady and a young man whom I assume to have been her boyfriend were engaged in some sort of dispute - in voicing her disgusted incredulity at something she felt inclined to repeat the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in a way that hurt my soul. Her boyfriend was in the seat in front of her, and she had taken a seat beside me, so the next time she inflected into the name of our Lord all her outrage and hate, I turned to her, and with a warm smile on my face I said in all honesty, "I love that person." It was simple, and she didn't understand me for a moment, but I guess I must have looked as sincere as I felt, and she immediately began to apologize profusely.Yet another time, some fellows at work were bantering back and forth, and using the Lord's name carelessly in their conversation. My response at that time was to remind them that "God will not hold those guiltless who take his name in vain" - these were not believers or anything, but it felt appropriate to the situation. The gentlemen laughed it off in an uncomfortable sort of way, but the blaspheming came to an end.In the first scenario, I was saddened to see my Lord's name taken and used as a curse word, and I suppose that sorrow came through and embarrased the young lady.In the second scenario, I was giving warning to men who were being flippant about God's name - it was a warning for their benefit. I never expect an unregenerate sinner to live up to Christ's standards, or to act in a way that accomadates my own beliefs and values - yet there are times when it seems appropriate to say something. I don't always say something - it really depends. If a person really seems to be cursing God - that gets my blood all angered up - but sometimes you can tell that it is just careless speech or habit. Careless speech, while offensive to me, does not hurt as much as the willful cursing of God.Dan/\\/\\/\\

I think that you're absolutely right. Should we expect an unbeliever who doesn't have the Holy Spirit, who is in darkness, to live and speak well? I certainly agree with you. In a sense, I think keeping this in mind will help us be more understanding towards them and stay right in our hearts. Thanks.

(not experienced many drunkards or trouble) Vlaardingen is a peaceful city, Rotterdam is worse.however, thank you so much for replying so quickly (JaySaved, Krispy, Josh, Todd, Dan) , i'm overwhelmed :-) if you have more suggestions/experiences please share them! because i really want to change the way i am, be more like Him, when being a taxidriver, to shine His Light in this filthy world.in His Light!William
