confessing jesus as lord and savior and repent, but living in sin

this is my last post...ive posted 3 in one night. I dont mean to be posting so many in one night but its just im trying to learn to preach and everyday ive been talking to people about god and so i keep learning more each day. For example heres my post. This guy today told me he confessed jesus as lord and savior, hes repented and hes read the bible a bunch. he did seem to know about it. the only problem is that he lives in sin. He doesnt show any fruit and for example, he has a kid and he doesnt care about his kid. he goes out and gets drunk. what can i do with a person like this? i seem to run into them alot.

My response I think would be, "Well Sir it sounds like you havent repented..."

To continue what hredii has said, it's impossible to repent and still live in sin. You should show him from the scriptures that the true believer doesn't live in sin or else he's a false believer.2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

You should tell him humbly and in a spirit of love but it's still going to offend there's no getting around that.

Wow, I know so many people just like that.A friend of mine cusses all the time. He rarely prays and never reads his bible. I asked him one time if he was a Chrisitan and he said 'Yes'. I talked to him about prayer and repentance and he said he 'has done all that'.I have a lot of friends and family who say they are christians but there is no fruit! I always pray that God will convict AND THAT THEY WILL LISTEN to the spirit as he convicts.

I watched a Ray Comfort video (let's please not get into a debate over him) in which a guy was witnessing to a drunk guy. The drunk guy was very outspoken, cussing and giving the Christian a hard time.***This blew me away!***When the Christian asked him what would happen to him when he died, he said that this might be a surprise, but he believed that he had a spot in Christ's kingdom when the Lord returned. These verses comes to mind over and over:Matthew 7:[22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?[23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

I had an old math teacher that would always say," I don’t want apologies, I want changed behavior." As much as I despised hearing her say that, God doesn’t want apologies, he wants repentance.

many times we make(our flesh that is) people into false christians who we know are not really at all what they should be... and then we wonder why that dont have the fruit of the Spirit in them.... i think we should all read john 1:13 " who were born not of blood, nor the will of the flesh nor the WILL OF MAN, but of GOD" to many of us make people christians when it is really GOD's job. again read John 3:8 what do you think Jesus is saying in that scripture?

i'm not sure if anyone here has heard the discussion about "Lordship Salvation", but it's an interesting study. Lordship salvation is when someone has made Jesus their Savior....but not their Lord. There's a BIG difference. Many people think they can say a prayer like "Jesus come into my life" and never mention God again in their life (...let alone LIVE for Him) .They think they have eternal security because of this prayer but ,as mentioned earlier, repentence is key (as well as spending time with God, fellowshiping, etc.)i think it's possible for a person to say a repentance-type prayer yet NEVER come to a realization. we've got to first come to a realization (like the prodigal son). then, we need to take action. faith is an action. love is an action. if i say "i love you" but never DEMONSTRATE it ,then i'm a liar. faith ,likewise, is demonstrated thru what we say, what we do, etc. just my thoughts....

This just hit me yesterday, I think. Our bond with Christ is the same as marriage. See how this relates to Jesus as Lord and Saviour:Lord: we submit to Him as a wife who chooses a husband, and submits herself to him, taking his nameSaviour: He chooses us as a husband chooses a wife, and saves us, bringing us into his familySo to have a real relationship that is comparable to marriage, He must be Lord and Saviour. One who does not claim Him as Lord, is like a woman who has married, but then takes another in adultery. She claims the name, but does not honor or regard it.
