The Lord Jesus has commanded:
Mark 16:15 ”“
"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation……”
Matt. 24:14 ”“
This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
Acts 1:8 ”“
"……you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth.”
This Paul did:
Rom. 15:19 ”“
………from Jerusalem, and round about even unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ;
Acts 28:30-31 ”“
Now Paul stayed two full years in his own rented lodging and welcomed all who came to him, proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.
Rom. 14:17 ”“
………the kingdom of God is…………righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
=========
Christians have been entrusted with the preaching of the Gospel which is exceedingly GOOD News of great joy for ALL people (Luke 1:10).
This Good News is the Good News of the Kingdom of God, that is, the Good News of the Sovereign Rule of God.
Comment:
-----------
The root meaning of the Greek word translated "kingdom” in our English Bibles is "sovereign rule or reign”, that is, the "kingdom of God” is more correctly translated as "the sovereign rule of God”.
The King ruling on God’s heavenly throne is God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The nations are hostile.
Ps. 2:2-3 ”“
The kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers conspire together
Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
"Let’s tear their shackles apart
And throw their ropes away from us!”
God responds:
Ps. 2:4-9””
He who sits in the heavens laughs,
The Lord scoffs at them.
Then He will speak to them in His anger
And terrify them in His fury, saying,
"But as for Me, I have installed My King
Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”
"I will announce the decree of the LORD:
He said to Me, ‘You are My Son,
Today I have fathered You.
Ask it of Me, and I will certainly give the nations as Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth as Your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron,
You shall shatter them like earthenware.’”
Dan. 7:14 ”“
And to Him was given dominion,
Glory and a kingdom,
That all the peoples, nations, and men of every language
Might serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion
Which will not pass away;
And His kingdom is one
Which will not be destroyed.
Phil. 2:10-11 --
that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The name of a king signifies that which the king really is ”“ His character. His attributes. How he will rule. What he will do for his people. How he will treat them. What he will ask of them.
We rejoice!
The Name that all creation will bow to is an infinitely good and great and glorious name that is worthy of all praise.
Ps. 113:3-4 ”“
From the rising of the sun to its setting
The name of the LORD is to be praised.
The LORD is high above all nations;
His glory is above the heavens.
Ps. 103:19 ”“
The LORD has established His throne in the heavens,
And His sovereignty rules over all.
Isa. 25:22 ”“
Stop regarding man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils;
For why should he be esteemed?
Ps. 146:3 --
Do not trust in princes,
In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation.
Ps. 145:3 ”“
Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised,
And His greatness is unsearchable.
Isa. 9:6-7 ”“
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace…………
Rev. 7:16-17 ”“
They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.
Ps. 24:7-10 ”“
Lift up your heads, O gates,
And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in!
Who is the King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty,
The LORD mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O gates,
And lift them up, O ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in!
Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of hosts,
He is the King of glory.
Selah.
