The Lord's Prayer, Revised Version. Portions of it are even making its way into churches. It's catching fire:
Dear Sir, Let's not get carried away with Your Name being all that. We are important too and we think you recognize that; why else would you do so much for us. As for your Kingdom coming, it really isn't necessary, we can build our own. Also, you have clearly decided, as many have interpreted your Bible to say, that you will defer to our free will being done and that your will shall take a back seat to that. Our will is far more important to you than your own because if we choose you this will mean that we truly have begun to like and trust you as someone worthy of our trust, but please know that you're going to have to earn it.
"On earth as in Heaven?" Only as we invite you or give you permission.
When it comes to giving us our provisions for life, please stay out of our way so we can pursue a lot more than our daily bread. For you to imagine or think that something as simple as bread and clothing is enough for our big appetites is presumptuous and not really for you to decide.
As for "forgiving us, as we forgive others"......you have a lot more to explain to us for what you have done in your Name or the bad you have allowed to happen on earth than we ever should have to explain to you for what we've done .
And as far as "leading us not into temptation", we aren't following you anywhere in the first place. And temptation is really just the call of our normal human desires. You gave those to us, so don't be surprised if we go where they lead. If you had a problem with that, you should have thought of that before you gave us these desires. Anyway, we think the desires we are born with are good and right. Don't try to call those desires bad. If you persist in that, we will hate you instead of loving you as you hope.
And apparently you think we need to be delivered from some kind of evil force ? We are convinced that you made this up to scare us into doing what you want instead of letting us follow our own ways. Just a myth to control us with fear.
Finally, you seem to have one huge ego to suggest that glory and power belong only to you. You would be amazed if you could truly see what we are capable of accomplishing on our own without interference.
Anyway, I guess we could at least say thank you for getting us started when you created simple cell creatures. We are constantly striving to improve what you started. What do you think of our creativity and work so far ? Impressive right?
