[In 1886] Mr. [Dwight] MooÂdy was conÂductÂing a serÂies of meetÂings in BrockÂton, MasÂsaÂchuÂsetts, and I had the pleaÂsure of singÂing for him there.
One night a young man rose in a tesÂtiÂmoÂny and said, I am not quite sure…but I am goÂing to trust, and I am going to obey. I just jotÂted that senÂtence down, and sent it with the litÂtle story to the Rev. J. H. SamÂmis, a PresÂbyÂterÂian minÂisÂter. He wrote the hymn, and the tune was born.
