The bible says that the Magog and Gog war is at the end of the millenium

D
deltadom Jan 12, 2022

Rev 20
7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where[b] the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

It is one of the things ignoring direct verses in prophecy so when you have 1 verse that says it happens at the end of revelation .
Why do people speculate about who are the nations in ezekial and other things.

Why cant people be comforted in the fact that the nations will be different during the time of the millennium

I believeve the nations will be different during the Millennium. I think overall they will like living in a world with no war on a renewed earth. I think they speculate because the abomination of desolation will trigger the final tribulation of this age in which the man of sin and forces and nations aligned with him will turn their satanic wrath on Israel and the church (Rev 12:17). An invasion of Israel by a cadre of nations at this time is predicted in Ezekiel and elsewhere. These forces are destroyed at Christ's second coming along with the man of sin (II Thess 2:8: Rev 19:17-21). So this could not occur at the end of the Millennium at which time the Antichrist will have long ago perished.

Jerusalem has always played a significant and pivotal role in the plan of redemption and God's government on the earth. It is God's holy hill of Zion, Jerusalem, where God has determined to set His King (Psalm 2:6). Satan knows it spells His doom when this occurs. Hence, the never ending spiritual and physical struggle over Jerusalem. Satan is a captive to his own evil nature and is unable to learn or be instructed. After his thousand year confinement, he will be loosed once again but will still be unable to act any other way except in accordance with his fallen and reprobate nature to which he is irrevocably bound. Upon his emergence after the thousand years, he will once again gather an assault against Jerusalem and the camp of the saints. The righteous king ruling from Jerusalem is his downfall and he knows it. Therefore, he will once again seek to dethrone God's King ruling over the earth from Jerusalem. He will test and tempt the nations once again with some joining even at this later stage. Yet, the time of tribulation Daniel and Jesus spoke of (Daniel 12:1; Matt 24:21) occurs before the Millennium and will involve many nations coming against Israel and Jerusalem also (Zechariah 14:2).

In your view of the Millennium will there be "unsaved” people during this time? If so, who will they be?

D
docs Jan 13, 2022

Another gotcha question. Covenient to use if one wants to avoid the real subject and throw in a little sabotage at the front. I would recommend addressing the OP's original scripture and thoughts.

TMK read the passage as it answers your question

T
TMK Jan 13, 2022

Dom- What passage? Not Revelation 20.

My question is whether there will be non-believers during the Millennium.

T
TMK Jan 13, 2022

David- not sure what you mean by a gotcha question.

The OP assumes a literal 1000 year Millennium with Jesus ruling in Jerusalem. That may in fact be what happens.

I certainly understand this is your viewpoint and likely most folks here. But that is not a universally held view among evangelicals by a long shot.

If this forum is only for discussing certain theological topics and also for discussing those topics only in certain ways, then Greg should list out the topics allowed and how they should be discussed.

docs Jan 13, 2022

I didn't imply it should be discussed only in certain ways. But instead of addressing the OPs thoughts and questions, you asked one of the most controversial issues of the whole discussion thus avoiding what deltadom asked.

Ok I will bow out but before I go can you tell me the status of your surgery?

D
docs Jan 14, 2022

Thank you TMK. I have low platelets and will begin taking a specialty medicine on Jan 26 for 5 days. If the medicine increases my platelets to an acceptable level, surgery will be on Feb 7. Any prayer you want to continue to offer up is appreciated.

Peace bro.

(edit)Not trying to add to any controversy!! I just read Docs response to you. (/edit)

"I" do not know for certain if there will be "unsaved" people there during the Millennium but Zac Poonan offers a compelling, reasonable argument that there WILL BE unsaved people there.

(revelation) Revelation 20:4-21:17 by Zac Poonen

If I remember right, he uses the following to support it:
Rev 20:7 And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea.

The 2nd resurrection hasn't occurred so where does he get his army from, the sand of the sea?

I can't remember enough to debate that! But you may gain more info listening to that study from Zac!

God bless,
Lisa

Satan Bound 1,000 Years

20 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
The Saints Reign with Christ 1,000 Years

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for [a]a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

There will be all believers that enter the millennium in verse 4 it says that.

The children of the believers will not be believers it will be them that start the war.

Quote-
" There will be all believers that enter the millennium in verse 4 it says that.

The children of the believers will not be believers it will be them that start the war.”

Some questions-

So these "believers” are seated on thrones on earth?

These "believers” are normal people, separate from the resurrected believers (the Church) that are the bride of Jesus and also with Him.

When will they become part of the resurrected Church?

If the devil is currently not bound, what is this scripture talking about? Colossians 2:15- New International Version
And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
Or this one? - John 12:31
Now judgment is upon this world; now the prince of this world will be cast out.

Could this scripture be talking about the release / unbinding of satan? - 2 Thes 2:7 New International Version. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.

Blessings

The Gog - Magog battle of Ezekiel 38/39 is different from Rev 20.
The Rev 20 battle is after 1000 years Christ rule.

While Ezk 38/39 Gog is defeated at Christ return I deduce this as I can see mentioned that the birds have a feast on the defeated army (Ezk 39:17, Rev 19:21) and there is a mighty earth quake. (Ezk 38:19, Rev 16:18)

Ezk 39:17 Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Call out to every kind of bird and all the wild animals: ‘Assemble and come together from all around to the sacrifice I am preparing for you, the great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel. There you will eat flesh and drink blood.

Rev 19:21 The rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

So speculating about about the nations in Ezk 38/39 is important as it lets you know which nations will ally with the beast who is empowered by Gog (The dragon Rev 13:4)

Gog clearly is the dragon as he appears again 1000 years later.
