A plague to worldliness Ac 24:5 - "For we have found this man a plague" Our prayer ought to be "Oh God make me a plague!" We ought to desire to be plagues to the darkness as the Apostle Paul was in his day. Everywhere Paul went the fire for God would spread, passion for God would spread, the truth of God would spread, hatred for sin would spread, and the cleansing blood of Christ would spread! This man was a plague! Can that be said of us the way we are currently living? May the Kingdom of God spread through us so rapidly and so widely that it will completely baffle and befuddle the powers and principalities of the air, that the devil won't know what to do to stop it. Yes God make us all plagues to the system of the world! But of course if we are going to be plagues we will have the multitudes come against us to stop us from affecting, or should I say infecting others. The call of Christ is a call of complete abdication, a total abnegation of self-preservation and self-service. The Great Commission requires reckless abandonment and ruthless self-denial. There is no other way to see the purposes of God fulfilled here on earth. You will be thought of badly; they will think and say of you "there is something wrong with him" and will distance themselves from you. Others will attempt to cure you. Paul had every "cure" tested on him that the devil knew of. This man, this plague, was starved, beaten, stoned, shipwrecked, impoverished, abandoned, until finally execution was the only way to stop him from spreading the message of the new-birth. BUT HE WAS A PLAGUE! Glory to GOD! Paul reached Jews, he reached Italians, he reached Asians, he reached Greeks, he reached Romans, he reached the high class, he reached the low class, and he reached the world for the Lord Jesus Christ! Even today millions are being inspired by the dedication and self-sacrificing of this man who gave all that he had to the furthering and establishing of the Kingdom of God. Oh Lord, make us plagues!!

(Acts 24:5) "For we have found this man a pestilent (plague) fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes."To be a sore in the side of the world is our calling. We are to be salt in the earth. That still has its savour, its sting and effectiveness. Oh may the gospel go through our lifes like a plague and bring results for the kingdom of God. Ever wonder why He chose salt? Why didn’t He say: “You are the pepper of the world”. Try as I might, I can’t think of a single situation where salt tastes sweet. A quick internet study on the properties of salt will show that it is, by its very nature, corrosive. Salt, an acid, is a combination of sodium and chloride, either element taken alone is toxic to the human body. What was Jesus thinking? Why didn’t he tell us to be the “honey’ of the earth. Was He confused? If Jesus told us that we were salt wouldn’t it be a good idea to study the function of the thing he told us to be? Wouldn’t it be a good idea to figure out what salt does? -Salt is a preservative…keeps things from rotting. Know anything rotting in the world? -Salt heals….your grandma every tell you to gargle salt water? Lot’s of hurting folks out there. -Salt gives flavor…ever hear someone comment on how potatoey their French fries taste? No, the correct response is “Boy, those French fries taste salty.” Salt changes the taste of everything. -Salt causes thirst…makes one want to drink…..know anyone thirsty for Truth? -Salt melts ice…only the Gospel can melt a cold, stony heart. -Salt purifies…alkali, a form of salt, is the leading ingredient in soap. Couldn’t our culture use a good cleaning? -Salt kills slugs….at least that is what a young boy told me when I spoke at a school assembly. Christians are supposed to be salt. Sugar may make us feel good when we spread it around, but all sugar does is make something easier to swallow, if you know what I mean.. “Just a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down” Mary Poppins sang.
