2Co 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
Oh how I have long cringed over the proclamation of preachers who tell convicted sinners that in order to be "saved", they must be sorry for their sins, yet they fail to make this distinction as described in this verse. And as the Apostle clearly proclaims, there is a distinction made as to which "sorrow" is spoken of. The preacher who fails to make such a distinction known, is a failure and a preacher of deception. For the "sorrow" that is decisive in producing salvation is the one that is distinguished by REPENTANCE. No "repentance" no sorry unto salvation.
REPENTANCE - Repentance is a decisive change in direction. It’s a change of mind that leads to a change of thinking that leads to a change of attitude that leads to a change of feeling that leads to a change of values that leads to a change in the way you live.
If there is no change in the way you live after repenting, then there is no hope of salvation, no matter how many times you have said the "sinner's prayer" or how many times you have been immersed in water. No repentance, no salvation. No compromise. It is what it is, and for it to last, it must be empowered not by determination, but by the manifest presence of the HOLY SPIRIT, that is promised to those repent (with the evidence of a changed life(style).
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Oh so true, yet the decision to "repent" is made by the individual believer, who has been made to understand that there are two choices. Godly repentance that leads to a change in lifestyle, mainly to decide to stop sinning. The second being a sorrow expressed without a willingness to stop doing that with which you are proclaiming that you are sorry for. To keep on sinning exposes the severe jeopardy one lives under, by believing a false pretense of the necessary reality that one MUST CHOOSE TO STOP SINNING, in order to receive SALVATION that is of YEHOVAH and not of man. One leads to everlasting life. The other continues to grow within like a cancer, and the result is both physical and spiritual death, now and for all eternity. Selah.
So dear reader, what do you base your salvation upon? The word of GOD or the lies of men (pulpiteers preaching deception)? You must decide. How do you decide? Look at how you live, my friend. Ask the LORD to expose the deception within, that leads to death. Ask HIM to empower you to change your mind, the kind of change that changes the way you live, not the words you say. I'll be praying for you, that you step aside from the modern concept of worldly sorrow, and into the SPIRIT empowered change that leads to new creation life, within and without. Thanks be to the MOST HIGH ELOHIM. Amen.
2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
