Update on my friend that is dying

sermonindex Jul 28, 2005

OK everyone... here's an update.I was in the gym last evening working out, and in walks Randy! I hadnt had an opportunity to see him yet... so it was good to see him. He has lost all his hair, a lot of weight and was looking really scrawny. He's been at Duke University for awhile undergoing experimental treatment for cancer. He is terminal, but they are trying to prolong his life the best they can.He asked the gym owner and myself to come into the gym office to talk. (I led the owner to the Lord awhile back) We all sat down, and he looked at both of us and said "I got saved a couple weeks ago." We both started to tear up.He said "I hate that it took something like this to get me to come around. All this time I thought I was a Christian... but in my heart I knew I wasnt following God. I've wasted my life."I reassured him that his life wasnt wasted... that God will restore what the devil stole, and he will probably do more for the Lord now than he might have ever done if he was saved for 20 years and was living a comfortable carefree life.At any rate... PRAISE GOD! Another soul in the kingdom!Like I said, he is terminal. He could live 6 months, or 5 years. Or it may be God's will to heal him... only time will tell. But the important part is, he is now packed and ready go! Amen. Please continue to hold him up in prayer, and also his wife and their 3 children.Krispy

Praise God. One day, "we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye." May God make all your efforts result in His glory.

Krispy, this news is the stuff of books and films! Praise the Lord! And there are people who would consider giving an eye tooth to be able to write a true story like this, let alone be part of a true story like this. Thank you for including us in this privilege and please remind us from time to time, if Randy's health deteriorates again. Will continue to remember them in prayer.

Praise God Steve!Hearing this made the hair on my arms stand up. When you see Randy again let him know that we are praying for him will you? 2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 2Co 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Awesome news brother!

So glad you shared this. Is it not awesome how God works...more in spite of us then because of us? Blessings to your friend and his family. The future this man has may be the most precious he and his family ever had.ginnyrose
