Up, to the hill of Calvary, I go;
To be crucified to myself and sin;
To ambitions and every empty show,
I would a selfless life begin within!
Up, to the hill of Calvary, I go;
Thither to Jesus I take my swift flight
From holy justice and eternal woe:
In Calvary, the crooked are made right!
Up, to the hill of Calvary, I go;
Heaven is found; and hell is lost
Returned comfort; gone's Adam's throe.
Death and eternal woes are truly crossed!
Up, to the hill of Calvary, I go;
To take a glimpse of everlasting love
Aided by the Spirit this love to know.
What of earth can me from his love remove!
Up, to the hill of Calvary, I go:
City with everlasting foundation --
The promise whereof doth greatly glow,
On this hight mountain of salvation!
