Q

When I was a young boy I was prophesied to be the man of God. I don't feel like a man of God I'm to prideful and a hypocrite. What is a true man of God?

The most important thing to do is to spend time in the Secret Place of prayer with Jesus Christ, this is where you change.

THE MARKS OF A RIGHTEOUS MAN

Let us try whether we are in the number of these righteous ones; whether we are indeed more excel-lent than others.

1. A righteous man is a humble man. He who is proud of his righteousness is unrighteous. "God I thank Thee that I am not as other men are. . . . I fast. . . I give tithes. . ." Luke 18:11-12. Here was a triple crown of pride the Pharisee wore. Righteousness, though it raises the name, depresses the heart. "If I am righteous, I will not lift up my head," Job 10:15. The violet is a sweet flower, yet hangs down the head; such a flower was Job. The righteous are like the silkworm. While she weaves her curious works, she hides her-self in the silk. The righteous man is more likely to judge himself than to play the critic on another. He shrinks into nothing in his own thoughts. David cried out, "I am a worm and no man"; though a saint, though a king, yet a worm.

7. Like a good soldier, the man of God must keep focused on the greater task of achieving the glory of God, placing that as the highest priority in life above self-gratifaction and personal goals. (Philippians 3:8)

8. The calling of the man of God will ultimately consume every ounce of his being, until the point where Christ wholly dwells in the Christian, and there is no man left to live. Then and only can one say: "In Him we live and move and have our being." This is the definition of God's man.(Galatians 2:20)

A godly man does not indulge in any sin

(from Thomas Watson's "The Godly Man's Picture")

Though sin lives in him—yet he does not live in sin. A godly man may step into sin through infirmity—but he does not keep on that road. He prays, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life." (Psalm 139:24).

"What is a true man of God?"

Mark 9:34 But they were silent, for on the way they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest. 35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the last of all and the servant of all.”

"There is no such thing as a great man of God, only weak, pitiful, faithless men of a great and merciful God.” Paul Washer

It's not about feelings, it's all about what God has said..

Last Friday I was a at Keswick meeting in the town I grew up in and to a Church, I haven't been in that church since I was at Sunday school.

As I got near that church, I remembered when I was a young boy, racing to the front to get prayed and being singled out and my Mother being called out to the front and spoke to about what God was planning for my life.

These type of things have repeatably happen through years, little by little God has opened up his calling on my life to me.

God will keep working with you, you maybe a hypocrite and prideful - that doesn't rule you out. Think about Peter - he said "others may deny you Jesus but I never will"

It was during that time that Peter saw what was in him, that my friend is a good place to be, as it is God's goodness to allow you see just how wretched we are. I don't mean a natural knowledge but a revelation of how wretched we are.

I think about Job who said "I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes"

Why is it good because God doesn't just show us how wretched we are he shows us "the way" into a new a deeper relationship. Think about Isaiah 6 when he saw the Thrice Holy God and he was "undone" and saw just how dirty he was.

But God gave him the way out.

Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

That is the path to becoming a great man of God, have a read of Andrew Murray books.
