The WELSH REVIVAL of 1904-5

"Revival is a community saturated with God," said revivalist
Duncan Campbell. And so it was in Wales. Reports speak of "an
overwhelming sense of God's presence and holiness at home, at
work, in shops," even in hotel bars!

Powerful conviction of sin follows. "Many lay flat on the ground in
agony of conviction." In one meeting sinners "fell in a heap and
cried out pitifully and loudly for mercy."

Such conviction triggers off intense prayer and repentance before
God, but also confession and restitution towards man: "the most
remarkable confessions of sin, confessions that must be costly."
Respectable church members and leaders publicly confessed sin
hidden deep in the hearts. This results in long-standing debts
being paid, stolen goods returned, church and family feuds being
healed, and enemies reconciled.

Outside of work-hours, worship, praise, prayer, Bible reading,
fellowship--these become the Christian's whole life. Meetings
couldn't be closed and went on all night. Men came in their work
clothes with their next day's lunch packed. Prayer meetings were
held in mines, trains, trams, and businesses. Shops sold out of Bibles.

Great numbers of people become Christians. In Wales: "70,000 in
two months, 85 thousand in five, and more than 100,000 in half a
year." By the end of the Revival, 90 percent of the people of Wales
were attending church.

In some Welsh districts, drunkenness halved, bars went bankrupt,
police had nothing to do, courts had no cases to try. Social
problems disappeared. But one statistic rose slightly--that of
insanity. Could it have been among those who endlessly resisted
conviction of sin?

So the nation is changed. Its values become Christian. But do
Revivals last? Dr Edwin Orr says the Welsh Revival was maintained
till the outbreak of war--WW1--in 1914. When he investigated the
effect of the Revival in 1935--thirty years after--he found that Revival
converts were "the choicest segment of church life." These converts
were now the elders and ministers of the church right across the nation.

Many now look on this Revival as a prototype Revival--a model for
all others. Yet the fact is there was one other feature of this Revival
that persisted until Orr published his favourable findings. The
Revival was criticised almost out of existence. For decades it was
considered "much ado about nothing because of its emotionalism"
(Dr Eiffion Evans).

Emotionalism - as if all emotions are from the the devil.
Jesus showed strong emotions.
Dry eyes and a stiff upperlip, everything under control and according to protocol, mental ascent to a high ideal never acchieved in personal life, stiffness and strictness under the disguise of piety, these are the marks of a pharisee.

There is not one revival in history that is not reviled.
True Christians have to learn to live with a questionable reputation, held in high honor by some and scorned by the religious.

Luke 19:39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Thank you for sharing Frannie!. We need a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit that would bring conviction of sin, and true repentance to the church.

I am being connected to many others via zoom on tue night. we are all from NY different areas but believing
May we all be little fire starters. I repent daily and believe God is sending His fire to purify us and also His healing.
2chron 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
I believe God is sending His healing rain and we must be where He tells us and Obey the Holy Ghost.

Dear member of His Body,
As a member I see that there is a strong hold of religion operating agst the HOLY GHOST.. I pray against this daily in my personal ministry. You say emotionalism?? Sounds like a religious spirit operating to me.. NOONE has arrive and revival needs to be in the church. So that HE can His agenda can be operating. Not mans GODS... Im blessed and excited that I see the Holy Spirit moving.. Im reminded that
we need to be washing one another's feet as Jesus taught us. Im reminded that at the last supper Jesus washed Judas feet.
The pharisees are the ones who tried stopping Jesus but Im beliving the Lord is seeing the thousands of brothers and sisters who are repenting daily according to 2 chron 7:14

I'm about to show myself strong in Australia, Blow the trumpet 🎺 The wet season I spoke of can be seen on the horizon. I will release a shower of rain upon my intercessors. This rain will come upon their eyes like eye salve, it will cause them to see deep into my spirit. Revelation winds will blow upon their mind, and they will live and move in a new spirit of intercession. And they will call upon the deep so that the deep, will flow upon the earth as new rivers in dry places, in times of floods. As springtime comes along with it will come a special bloom of flowers from a garden that I have cleaned and prepared for the season of fruit. The release of fragrance will be a holy life with a holy message wafting down the streets drawing many to the boundaries of my garden, and many ragged,old and sick and young plants that were my special seed from the past will be dug up and they will become the Transplanted ones that I will strategically place back in my garden next to my strong plants and they will draw from them and get nourishment from them, and from my holy sap. Once the weak become strong I will then graft them together and they Will all draw their sap from ME. Then I will send a Great flood of Firey Rain that will completely flood my gardens and I will release from boundaries of my garden The Firey Flood that will contain also My Holy Sap and these will invade the Streets of Darkness and even enter into the Garden of Enmity, and many weeds of different sizes will be ripped from their roots, and new seeds will be planted and I Will declare says the Lord a New Name and remove the enmity, drive in a Golden Stake, and lay a New Claim. IT will be a time of upheaval and a time of my Divine judgment Says the Lord, but it shall be a time of Sweet Restoration and a time of Abundance, and a time to Gather sweet and fat fruit, and a time to make wine and a time to build Barns and time to preserve the spoil in fine crystal ware and reserve in my barns for ME to drink and be merry, And for me to consume in my Coming kingdom. So again I say look up, And smell the Wind, for the Rain is coming on the wind, for with the smell comes firey rain not far behind it . Know The Season and look not at the world nor listen to the false prophets of pharmakeia and the babbling foolish ones , neither love the world nor the things in the world but draw from Heaven, and My will be done, on Earth as in Heaven.
