Since I know all's for my good:
How my heart leaps for joy;
This knowing is a food
For my faith, that's ready to die!
Since I know all's for my good:
Should I take the loss of anything,
Save my soul, cruel and crude?
Nay: losses're God's mercy's wing!
Since I know all's for my good:
Then weakness to me is vitality;
The bitter, guile and wormwood,
Are no ill, but sweetness to me!
My Father, who dwells on high,
Lord of every event and motion:
What on earth is not under His eye?
Nothing harmful'll He make my portion!
If my arms He commands to die
And wither; my eyes to see no more:
It is but to make me fitted for the sky!
All's good, that eyes that celestial shore!
That cloudless day shall see us singing:
'All things were for our good indeed!
How we blush for every murmuring!
For our good, all things're decreed!'
