TEXT: EXODUS 32:1
''And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him''
It is a taking intention with God to make all His children strong and firm in the faith; He wishes that in all conditions, the faith of the elect should stand unmoved. Having children who changes with time and season, grieves the heart of our heavenly Father. So, in order to the building up of the saints, God gives them gifts of men so that they be no longer like infants, tossed backward and forward, blown about by every breath of human teaching, through the trickery and the craftiness of men, towards the snares of error;': (Eph. 4:14). If a people relapse back to ungodliness and apostasy, the minister over them is to blame. If a minister goes for a rest, and it appears as though God equally went on holiday from the assembly, we would blame this on the minister in part, not for going to take a rest, but for being unable to make himself dispensable to the assembly. The whole Nation of Israel appeared to have lost God for Moses' absence for just some days: it was as though Moses took God away with himself. For this, they would have gods made for them. Many cannot stand on their own, they must needs be watched and spoonfed by other people. Laziness to seek and win God's audience, is commonly known amongst believers. Brothers, only personal meetings with God can produce a firm footing in the faith. Many 'Moses(es)' there are, exerting influence on many, at whose departures, their works might not go on for want of discipleship. To be continued.
