"Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.''
No doubt, the world gives honour and reward for favour done to her, but those are short-lived and temporal. For aborting a bloody coup against King Ahasuerus by Mordecai, he was only dressed with the whole royal vesture and carried on the royal horse through the city by the highest prince in the land, after which he returned to his former position. Mordecai acted the king just for a moment. No matter the risk taken for the empire of man, it would only reward you with a fading flowers. To my mind, such gesture shown to Mordecai, is a mockery: the world's glory is not only temporal, but a very big mockery of the nobility of the soul. See Haman, praised and exalted to honour today, but shortly hung by the same king that raised him to honour. The government of this world is so unstable: take not her smile to be for ever! Was David not praised and raised to honour by Saul today and the next day became a target of his malice? David's honour was chanted to his long wondering from one country to another. He who seeks honour from the world, would be forced to battle with the fading rewards in his hand. Compare the reward that greeted Mordecai for fighting for his people with the reward for saving king Ahausarus. The rewards that God gives, last to all eternity: for an infinite God gives infinite reward. Friends, whose honour do you seek in all you set yourself upon to do? Man's or God's? Man can only make you an actor on a stage, but God does more infinitely than that.
