TEXT: ACTS 6:2
''Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables''
To cloth, feed and house a man without bringing his soul to the cleaning power of Jesus' blood, is as offering a condemned prisoner, waiting to be hung in few days time, all the comforts of a free life: his real need is a pardon from his king. Man responds more easily to that which affect his present life, than to that which has to do with his eternal state: so, his direction and inclination are toward all things that enhances his present or bodily life. Man is not such a being that keeps before his eyes the world to come and his prospective reckoning with his maker: all his hopes are detained and engaged on what meets the yes . Sad enough, saints are helping man to nurture his body more than his soul; we strive to give man good life, by urging them to believe God for good life, but failed to urge or goad them toward repentance. The Saints' call is not to pave the streets of the world with gold; stuff her citizens with the knowledge of creatures and make the world looks more desirable than heaven, but our call is to make the inhabitants long for another world, heaven. We mind what the body of men need more than what their souls need, hence we preach nothing other than good life, beautiful and earthly opportunities. Jesus did not ask us to go do humanitarian works, but to preach the gospel of the Salvation of the soul's of men! I ask you dearly beloved: what eternal profit are you to a man, who is clothed by you but has no robe of righteousness on his soul? You are blind or insensitive, if you mind only the bodily well-being of man and no more! He gathers not with Christ, who strives not for man's soul. We need eye-salve to see that every man that lives outside Christ is marked for never-ending torture! Any charity work that saves only the body, is charity in futility!To be continued.
