''I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.''
The chiefest and greatest work that lies in the hand of a man, is the work of the Salvation of his soul--not that he can save his own soul, for Christ has paid for the salvation of all, but man has a duty to co-operates with Christ's merit, by stretching forth his whole being to take this redemption in Christ's blood. For man, his soul is 'a charge to keep' in the keeping of it, he glorifies God; in the keeping thereof, he does good to a never-dying being and 'fit it for the sky'. Of this important work, man thinks he has time,--oh! the greatest pranks the enemy of man's soul plays on him is to convince him that he has enough time to work out his salvation. Time like an abating sea, whose fountains have been sealed, glides away unnoticed. Many have spent the half of their life, allowed to them by the hands of providence, yet they have not discovered the work of the Salvation of their soul, so as to set their hand on this crucial work. More than half of the present world population, lives not with eternity in view; many mind not their eternal welfare, they are ignorant of the fact that there is a repentance and forgiveness to seek with all their heart; few failed to realize that an offended God waits for an apology from them. Man, in all thy getting, get a pardon for thy many sins before the night of death throws its cold blanket on thee. Amongst all you set your hand on to do, the Salvation, nourishment and preparedness of yourself for that great day of reckoning, should be the chiefest of them all. If the work of the salvation of our souls is left undone and unattended to, every other work is done in vain. The work of the salvation of our souls, consists in insisting, by faith, on the merit of Christ as ours to enjoy and stand in. Oh man, the night is upon us, when no man can work: let us work while it is day! Nothing is a work in Christ's eye, that is not the work of the salvation of souls: for Christ has no business on earth save the seeking and saving of that which is lost. None truly is Christ's follower, who goes not after the lost until they be found. Every man living, is sent into the world for a clear purpose: until that purpose be found, a man lives but vaguely! Our Lord walked and lived, while on earth, in this consciousness: that He was sent to work a clear work, the work of God. Had believers understood that they are sent into the world for the purpose of doing the works of God, we would have the world overrun with the gospel of Christ by now. Friends, do you know you were sent into the world by a pre-determinate counsel of God? Brothers, do you live as those who are sent to do a work within a specific period of time? That worry is in place, that is for the purpose of knowing for what reason a man came into this world. He intends to please God, who frequently asks, as did our blessed apostle Paul: 'Lord, what would thou have me do?' Our Lord lived not in the dark respecting His assignments here on earth: they were crystal clear to Him as the day, when the sun shines brightest. Fulfilling divine purpose was a must for Him: 'I must work the works of him that sent me...' We seem not to be convince that disobedience to divine assignments could secure for us eternal wrath; that joy and peace shall be far from our tents if we be far from our primary purpose on earth. Who is as sad as a saint who lives not for the advancement of the Kingdom of grace and heaven? As we would be truly happy here and hereafter, it concerns us to make the growth of God's kingdom amongst men, our primary concern by life or death. If our Lord said, 'I must work the works of him that sent me...' then we should gather that all who claims followership and fellowship with Him, must have the same resolution as He does. How wonderful and challenging to hear Christ saying, 'I must work the works of him that sent me...'
