My work attempts have over the years been generally online (e-commerce and similar). I majored in business at school and university but never graduated (as I eventually dropped out with ministry wishes in heart). While I have yet to see the Lord's right hand of fellowship in a public ministry, I have certainly seen God in a private prayer ministry. Especially in other tongues as well as groans that cannot be uttered under the working of the Spirit of God. I have often found myself groaning steadily (under the working of the Spirit) as I work on the computer.Â
I mentioned my work type history to try and share my level of proficiency in navigating the internet. And with this background I have been able to pull out sites that are recognized as Christian crowdfunding platforms and have tried to look at several of their make-ups. For one I have found that GiveSendGo claims to be the #1 Christian crowdfund platform and in fact do prove to be most active comparatively speaking. And I will therefore lean largely on them for my make-up findings. By the way, while musing on the matter yesterday, I noticed that bother Gordon once shared a campaign link hosted on there relating to the Ukraine war. Well the campaign type in question related somewhat to Romans 15:26 - "For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem". The sum of which served as an additional assertion that the service is in a way evidently needed. Well some of my concerns with GiveSendGo in light of Christian piety are:
1. Give send go depends largely on social media sharing for marketing campaigns. On a recent blog post of theirs they reiterated this. Arguing that friends and family are the ones likely to give towards a campaign. But should not that, in a Christian context, be our new spiritual family/friends as opposed to carnal ones? The issue here is that a typical social media friend/family may in some cases be a seller of worldly, sensual fashion for example - or a worker in the alcohol or liquor industry. Or does it not matter where the funds we get relieved by originates from? Are we coveting their ill-earned funds - all the while refusing to do the jobs they do because they are spiritually gross? Me think a conservative Christian operator of such a platform would rely on marketing means such as advertising campaigns on worthy platforms where genuine Christians should be found. To maximize chances of clean funds that change hands. A conservative Christian is to check and double check the job they do, and must move on if they cannot fully justify its nature in light of scriptures. Therefore availing relief from such hands prove well warranted by Christian holiness.
2. Give send go makes very little mention of God in their reasons for the service offer - and when they do, the mentioning is often ambiguous or seemingly not evangelical. Should not this giving be simply that which is encouraged in the Bible, the Biblical charity giving that shall be reward worthy in that day? Yes if there can be a way to improve/justify the current Give Send Go service quality, then there would be no need to seek for another. I too would gladly publish a campaign or two on their platform. But as needy as I stand, I cannot stomach publishing with them due to the above concerns/questions. Together with Give Send Go, the many other platforms will blindly publish controversial seeming causes such as those that promote Roman Catholicism, etc. This again suggests that the founder of such platforms are not as Christian sensible (if at all) as they needed to be. And therefore capable to such critical carelessness in the service offering.
So the wonder now is, how can I justify the use of the likes of GiveSendGo or similar concerning planforms for my cause? Or is there any other worthy one? Of cause from my stand point, platforms that do not even profess Christianity are more concerning and frankly out of the question where Christian charity is concerned.
