I plead no merit;
I am of no profit:
Use me despite me;
Use me just for thee!
Without me thou canst be;
I can not be without thee!
Less than a spark am I:
But thou art wide as the sky!
What is this body of mine,
That all my cares I assign?
Brittle and worms' dainty --
A dying dust -- earthy of earthy!
But thou art substance-less,
Matter-less, and weight-less:
Yet, the universe is held up by thee,
Howbeit, from any strain, thou art free!
Existence is thy donation;
To us it is a gifted portion
From thee, the very first cause --
Thou canst the whole nature pause!
All around thy throne, may all sing:
'Great art thou Lord, great King,
Monarch, Earl and ruler of all;
Before thee alone, we do now fall!'
