Scripture Scammers
I have posted here on more than one occasion, that "a half truth is a complete lie". Amen. And both the pulpit and the pew has been poisoned by this tactic of deception, using scripture. Scripture out of context. The "half truth" gimmick has been around since the garden of Eden. Satan still uses it because it still works. Why? Because it still works. The easiest way to get carnal people into churches and believe they are born again, is to bait them with "half truths". Let me give you an example. I'll use a verse from scripture that is very popular in among the hoopla people.
Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.
I would venture to guess that most who read this text recognize it some likely can quote it from memory. And it is a wonderful text, an amazing promise. But I have a question. Who is "you" in the first line above? Is it solely Israel? Or is it for all who are YAHWEH'S children by faith? How do we know? For sure.
The easiest way is to find out usually is to read the context. Lets do that and see if we can find out who "you" really is.
12 Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you.
Oh yes, more good news. Prayers not only heard, but responded too. But wait there's more......
13 Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
Ah ha! Now here is a definite "qualifier" that validates who 'you" really is.
"When you search for me WITH ALL OF YOUR HEART" (emphasis my own). These are those who own vs 11 and 12, beloved. But you would not know this if you only heard vs 11. Oh dear reader this is such a serious error among church folks today. They simply will not search the scriptures (more than one) to see if these things be so. And it is killing you spiritually.
Church folks today, are like someone who enters grade 1 in elementary school at age 6. They do well, make A's and B's. An occasional C here and there, but over all, good. Then the next school year, they go back to grade 1 again, and they do real well this time. All A's with only a B now and then. The next school year, they go back to grade 1 and make straight A's. And they follow this paradigm through the completion of typically 12 school years.
So they go and apply for employment. And of course the app asks for the number of years completed in education. So the applicant puts down 12 years, with warm assurance that the employer will be pleased. But the employer asks for a grade transcript. So the applicant proudly shows off his transcript. 12 years of grade 1, straight A's since the third year. The employer says, "ah, we'll call you if we need you".
And so it is with church people. They have been in school for decades, some of them. And they know almost nothing about life in HIM. Why? Because the teachers follow the same protocol. They don't know anymore than most of their pew warmers. (pew- bench seats for the congregants to sit it. They are called pews because in most steeple houses, this is where faith dies.) 😢
So when I hear texts like Jer 29:11 quoted, I cringe. Why? Because there is no mention of vs 12 and 13. And without an understanding of these two verses, the deception is consummated and the toxin is swallowed up, sweet to the lips, but bitter when it hits bottom. And if you try to explain it to most, they treat you like you are their enemy. They will literally attack you. They faith is nothing but fantasy. And they don't want to hear anything different. WAKE UP!!!!
Read the complete TRUTH. Take time to study the context. where it makes promises or warnings to "you", find out who is addressed with this term and other similar terms. And if you don't measure up to the qualifier that is there to validate your faith, guess what? You are deceived.
None of us like to admit we've been duped. It is humiliating and embarrassing. But friend, the only safeguard for this attack on faith, is to know the TRUTH. All of it on any given topic. Build your faith on solid ground. Don't just write down verses out of context on post-it notes and stick them all over your house or office. Dig into the TRUTH, all of it, and you will be set free from pulpit and pew opinions that have no value in spiritual growth. YAH bless you as you go on with HIM. - Lahry
