When it comes to explaining how faith and works work together, most Christians get it wrong, they tend to go to extreme positions.
David explains in very understandable terms how faith and works relate to each other, they are not exclusive of each other, neither are they opposites but they work together. He gave a very simple illustration:
A man falls into the sea and is about to drown. In order to rescue him there are three options:
1) a lifeguard jumps into the sea and pulls the poor man ashore who does not have to do anything.
2) someone shouts at the man telling him to to use all his strength to swim to the shore.
3) someone throws a life-saving ring into the sea close to the man and tells him to take hold of it while pulling him to the shore.
This is explained in lesson five and six, but it is worth to listen to the whole series.
