Any Christian maintained Google like search engine service, please?

I am attempting a Christian friendly kids browser app for Android and would like to set a friendly default search engine instead of Google or other known engines. I became aware of the likes of kiddle.co, kidzsearch.com, etc but these seem to be non-Christian owned and therefore still fall short in a material way - though they may already filter out the gross vices. The app is suppose to allow domain blocking and whiteklisting of cause. But unless there is some information sources to whitetlist, it will in a way be of not much use. Any info will be much appreciated.

P.S. The fairly finished app is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.za.likeChrist.kidBrowser

And yes this is just in case someone knows of such service. It will be okay if it is not known of.

It may be me but brother David's reply appears to blank

Hi, no I removed it. I'm sorry. I did a search for Christian search engines. There seemed to be a fair number of them. But then I reread your first message and I was unsure if those search engines would fit in with exactly what you wanted.
I got my results from the google search engine just by typing in Christian search engine.

There was one that I found that seemed quite good, called Seek Find ...

It may, or may not function exactly as you are wanting.

However, DuckDuckGo is a excellent non tracking search engine (saves you being spammed with tons of unwanted ads from your searches) that also has a "strict" setting for keeping the feed extremely clean for kids.

Best option we found for maintaining control over the information being pulled up.

@David Noted and yes I also ran into SeekFind but then came to learn that their focus seems to be on Christian materials particularly. Which would yes mean that generic searches would likely return no results.

@Solomon101. Appreciated, I already have active configurations for DuckDuckGo, and should try to run somes tests and see how well it works.

I can warmly recommend this search engine. It has a chrome and fire fox extension that facilitates anonymous searches. The founders are Christians, you can read their story. https://swisscows.com/en

@narrowpath Appreciated. I tested DuckDuckGo and... well I believe it can work but only after the default settings have been customized. But yes admittently I wished for something that could work without prior configs or sign in. At present, I was finding the Purebrowser.org's search engine to be coming close to what I wished for. They have an Android browser on Google play using the same engine but of cause it is not intended to be child friendly as I purpose to. I could not fully work how sound the developer Titus blair's Christian standing is. But it seems he did a good job filtering the gross vices. I shall certainly go check this swisscows and see if it might be comparatively better.

For those who might might be curious about the bigger idea, the browser can at the moment be configured to block ads, block images, block domains (not recommended alone), whitelist domain(recommended), block predefined search words, track seach history by parent (deletable under password protected Settings), detect uninstall or clearing of data.

WIP 1: The blocked keywords are also suppose to be checked on each loaded page and then be repalced with ****.

WIP 2: The friendly defaults seach engine.

Then to be hopefully added later: parent remote tracking and configurations.

there are great search engines out there that do not have pop ups or trackers or big data or big brother watching.

Look for searxng sites.

https://searx.space/

you can set preferences on any site you add to your favorites list.

I pick one in the US that has a good score.
you can also host your own seaxng site if you are docker saavy
I host my own searxng site so I dont worry about anyone tracking or watching me, or sending me stuff I dont want.

searxng uses a software to scan all other browsers for an answer to the question or query.
you can go into preferences and select which browser you want searxng to scan and it will only reply with those browsers.

@Marvin Input appreciated. But yes I wished particularly for something that did not require prior configurations atleast from the user's end as a child can possibly reset them. Or logout if an account signin is required. I am trying to look into now to see possible flexibility.

So far swisscows comes quite close as they also filter the gross vices by default. They however do have a music offer which may not be ideal if not spiritual. Or you got to review it @narrowpath? While a lesser deciding factor, I find them less proffessed about their Christian position. For example when a coarse keyword is queried, their blocking explanation is essentially that they seek to accomodate minors as well and therefore cannot honor the query (would they otherwise honor if it were not that?).

Purebrowser on the other seems to be upto no good as they have a link (under the search button) to their 'own' news site which seemingly only contain posts from Christianpost.com and have a field where they offer subscriptions to the same news site (possible scheme to harvest emails perhaps?).

I have just learned that Google offers what they call 'programmable' search (paid and free plans). I wonder if that is what SI imtergrated? Google states that they let you choose what sites to include etc. This would be great especially if one can also enable their SafeSeach by default. I hope to look into this as well.

P.S: The said Pure Browser's news site seems to
only contain excerpts of the news posts and not the entire posts. Which makes material difference. But it is still odd that subscriptions to their news site is offered thus. I purpose to look further there into and accordingly upadate this post.

@Kervin - no I have not reviewed Swisscows, I just started using them by recommodation of a friend. These guys know a thing or two about what is going on behind the scenes to say the least.

As for purity, no search engine can do better than my hero Job's advice and that is to "make a covenant with my eyes"
Maybe we need to extend this covenant to the use of our mouse and keyboard ;)

I agree with you on Job's covenant passing onto the keyboard and mouse :) In fact I happened to assume that any Christ loving brother/sister must already hava it so. But unfortunately the same may not be the case with growing Sunday schoolers who might still need the use of the internet here and there. For now I am going with a selfhosted Googles paid CSE. It uses query credits which will need to be regularly topped up through the app unfortunately. Well I have found that even when the CSE is fairly configured, the ads that comes with the results on a free plan may be materially off. The app is already on the Play Store as "Kid Browser - by a Christian" (should share a link sometime). Functional but may have rough edges which I should smooth out with time. A not so bad family related issue (that tend to be emotionally draining) just came up and tend to have me preoccupied. The app is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.za.likeChrist.kidBrowser
