This is so true. When God first saved me in 2016 he gave me the desire to seek his word. Even as a new believer I could see there was something wrong with the way modern evangelism was largely performed here in America. "Recite this magic incantation and God will be contractually obligated to grant you admission to heaven. No need for anything else, just say the prayer!"

Amen brother. I've seen so many people led into a false assurance because they've been told all they need to do is say the magic formula (sinner's prayer.) I had a similar experience when I was 12 or so.

The true gospel needs to be preached: people need to hear the law of God which the Holy Spirit uses to convict of sin, they need to be told the true cost of following Jesus (everything), they need to be told to repent and give up the old life, and that Jesus will save them if they put their trust in Him and His work on the cross.

Anything short of this simple message, preached in the power of the Holy Spirit (which is absolutely essential), will produce nothing but more false converts and increasing worldliness in what is called the body of Christ.
