Jesus made a clear point that God's house could not be a house of prayer without a cleansing of the temple of those who made money an idol of the heart. The spiritual point seems obvious. God does not listen to the prayers of the idolatrous. Ezekiel 14 has God saying that very thing. God says to the son of man, shall I allow those with idols in the heart and their spiritual stumbling blocks to inquire of ME?
The answer is a clear NO. In fact, He says, their sickening/detestable "things" have "estranged" my people from ME ( this is a relationship breaking word ).
Likewise, Jesus made the point that He was outside a church because of their covetousness. And they had no clue He wasn't in their midst. Jesus was sickened.
The spiritual house of God, individually in many cases and corporately likewise, needs a cleaning if they expect to commune and pray with God. God does not even hear the prayers of those who regard iniquity in their hearts. Not my words and they were spoken to the church.
