I have been at a bible conference this week
I am so desperate for jesus and the presence of jesus
What I find interesting is with preaching as we were going through the historical narrative regarding Gideon and it is was interesting how I asked them to recall the bible verses that we had been going through and they had completely forgotten but they remembered what the preacher had been talking about vaguely as you tend to forget 50 percent of a sermon in the first hour.

That was one thing I loved about Keith Daniels is that when he preached , he would repeat the verses like multiple times so it would be in your head and some of Keith greens sermon about numbers and actually remembering
Why is it so hard as people have to work so hard to come up with something exiting from the bible when they just simply open the bible and go through chapter by chapter and explain what it is in scripture
It so saddens me that you get preachers who get 5000 people in a service but they don't actually remember the passage or haven't learnt anything new on the passage they have preached on and by the next week would have completely forgotten what the preacher even preached on.
They may have learnt some interesting stories about the preacher but nothing about the bible
In a world where we have more access to biblical archaeology and commentaries and make greater light than any other generation about the bible texts
There are archaeology discoveries related to every book in the bible , we have texts from the ancient cultures relating to the bible such as the baal cycle
There is no excuse in the world that we live in to not be biblical illeterate where there are thousands of people who don't have the bible in there own language
We have access to the early church fathers and the puritans and so many amazing commentaries that approach the bible from so many different angles
Why is it when I leave a sermon that I should remember what the bible verse is about not about his swimming pool or some irrelevant story
