Confirming A Calling - Jeremiah Johnson

sermonindex Sep 21, 2023

When many are ready for God to publicly confirm their calling, He is about ready to privately begin the crushing.
When many believe they are heading into a "promise land” season, God is actually sending them into the wilderness for further preparation.

In the words of Martin Lloyd Jones, "The worst thing that can ever happen to a man or woman is for them to succeed before they are ready.”

In a church world drunk on instant gratification and success overnight, I want to encourage many confused about the timing of God and what they thought their "calling” and "promise land” would look like.

He is with you. He is for you. He is not punishing you.

He is more concerned with loving you than using you.

He cares way more about your character than gifting.

Comparing your process to others will steal your joy.

Humility and obedience to HIS voice is always the pathway to success.

Quote: When many are ready for God to publicly confirm their calling, He is about ready to privately begin the crushing.

I have been digging about as to the reason he would use the word "crushing".

His story on the false prophecy of Trump election.

That life-changing decision came in the wake of criticism after he publicly apologized for prophesying the reelection of former President Donald Trump.

After explaining the focus of his new ministry, The Altar Global, Johnson goes on to share the heartbreak he and his family endured after the election. ""I had a personal decision that I felt like the Lord was stirring me about," he says. "It wasn't about whether I was right or wrong. I had this keen awareness that [God] was going to use me as a sign, specifically to the prophetic movement.

"And so we went through this season of me offering a letter of apology to the body of Christ for what I believe was a miss," he says. "But the Lord began this incredible work in my heart. It was full of crushing. ... A lot of the folks that had supported us for over a decade sort of turned on us. They leaked our address online, death threats ”” we lost half of our support base. We lost about $40,000 of financial monthly support in less than a week.

"And so we just went through a really rough season," Johnson says. "But in the midst of that, God began to refine me. He began to help me find a clear focus again.

I just can't understand why he needs all the drama - crushing is a "rough season" why make it super spiritual.

I understand God's correction is not pleasant at the time but come on. Having been through the correction of God myself I know it not pleasant, however this one thing I learnt during his correction.

God is so good - and it's his goodness that makes us turn back to him in repentance.
