Eph 5:14 Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
At the moment I am going through some fierce troubles. I had been seeking Lord more as these troubles intensified. I asked the Lord why these continuous and prolong trials exist in my life. He told me plainly: "How else can I gain your attention?”
I must admit, that over time my prayer life had faded. Not that it did not exist, but it was sort of haphazard and my bible reading became a ritual rather than being a time of encounter with the Lord.
Still, I go to church and lead small bible studies and listen to sermons. I see many around me who are in this state and I must admit that I sometimes feel superior to those who have an even more sluggish walk with the Lord than me. That is definitely not the way the Lord wants me to see others.
I am tired and weary, I spend too much time online checking "interesting” things, but they dry out my soul and distract me from Christ. I feed on YouTube algorithms more than on the Lord, this must be one of the devils snares.
I am interested and troubled at the same time about recent developments in politics and I see then as the foreboding signs of the end of this age.
Luke 21 25 "And there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars; and upon the earth distress among nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring. 26 Men’s hearts will fail them for fear and for looking upon those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh.”
29 And He spoke to them a parable: "Behold the fig tree and all the trees. 30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the Kingdom of God is nigh at hand. 32 Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.
This is exactly what is happening now. There is distress among nations, with perplexity.
Things that never happened before are happening now before our eyes. Developments like the LGBTQA agenda, wokeness, cancel culture, destruction of human civilization, hyper tolerance on one hand, but dictatorships and increased state control on the other. We see decriminalization of crime and criminalization of traditional, common-sense practice and values. We see pornification of women, dishonoring of male leadership, reverse racism that still racism, sexualization of children, worship of nature, and dehumanization of humans to an invasive species. AI is about to take over and may fear that we are soon reaching singularity, where robots control humans and big tec competing for the pole positions. Media spreads lies as never before, finance, entertainment and political power are usurped by a small elitist group.
I think it is pointless trying to work out how this is all fitting together, who is behind it and where it will lead to. The hour of the evil one is coming, but he has only a very small slot of time. He does not bother about the world, it is his anyway. He is after us! All he tries to do is to destroy God’s people among the Jews and Gentiles, as the day of the Lord is approaching. The Lord’s people will prevail, but there will be and I think it has started already, the "great falling away”.
Many among us will fall away and we will see it in our midst and all around us. This is a wakeup call for all of us.
Luke goes on:
34 "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness and cares of this life, and so that Day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
I see the fulfillment of verse 34 in our days. We so dumbed and lulled into sleep by the media, consumerism and a thousand things to keep us away from communion with God and true fellowship in Christ.
Remember the 10 virgins all fell asleep. I am fighting tiredness; my eyes are getting heavy. The Lord uses troubles to wake up his disciples. Let’s make sure we have the midnight oil in our vessels. We can draw this midnight oil in communion with God and in fellowship with each other.
If we do not wake up and pray, we will be sucked alive into this madness. Leonard Ravenhill said once: If we do not concentrate on prayer, we will soon pray in concentration camps.
