THANKSGIVING - is an identity of the people of YAHWEH. We are thankful for every day in all things, ever giving thanks.
1Th_5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
2Th_2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln declared that the 4th Thursday of each November would be a day of "thanksgiving" in the USA. Why? He thought it appropriate to celebrate a major civil war victory by the Union Soldiers over the Confederacy. "Thanksgiving Day" officially had no connection between the official holiday, and the mythological event most folks think of at the mention of this holiday we call "Thanksgiving". There is little to no evidence, that a celebration dinner with both pilgrims and native americans ever happened. It is almost certain, that it did not. That would make it a tradition, but not fact.
Our "tradition" is too often little more than a fairytale or "extra biblical" belief.
FACT - 2Sa_22:50 Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.
1Ch_16:8 Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.
1Ch_16:34 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
1Ch_16:35 And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.
(38 verses say "give thanks")
"Deliver us from the heathen" - surely the pilgrims would have considered the native americans heathens. So much so, that about the same time as the purported "dinner" took place, the pilgrims set fire to the village of the native amercians and burned up every one of them, men, women, and children.
Pilgrims? Yes. New Creation Life believers? Hardly. In another place I read that they actually cut off the head of the tribal chief, and put it on a stake on the main street of Plymouth, Ma. It stayed there for 25 years, until someone finally took it down and buried it. "Christian Heritage"? Hardly.
We have so much to be thankful for today. Thankful for HIS mercy upon the Pilgrims. Thankful for HIS mercy upon us today. We certainly need to pray more than eat. Pray for deliverance. I am deeply concerned that a DIVINE work of GRACE is about to happen. Not just in the USA, but world wide. Chastisement!
I read just yesterday, where the average age of a Ukranian Soldier today, is 43. There are no more young men left to fight. All have been killed. Surely Russia must have similar statistics. 😢 Wars and rumors of wars are everywhere.
Flooding everywhere, in places where flooding is all but unheard of. Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, China, Pakistan, and the list goes on an on. Earthquakes. More than 1000 in one day in Iceland. Turkey had a huge one recently.
We are all primed for HIS promised "chastisement". Chastisement is usually a bit painful. I'll never forget the last time my father put a large switch (a branch from a hedge in the yard, about 3/8" in diameter) to my backside. I was 12 years old. I had made an F on my report card. In "Religion" (catholic) of all things. I made myself a promise, I would never give him cause to do that to me again. CHASTISEMENT! Coming soon to a neighborhood near you.
I sincerely pray you all enjoy this day of "thanksgiving". Enjoy family. Celebrate Life, and the GIVER of all life. I pray your day in the LORD is blessed.
