Since false teaching and false teachers are of concern in Scripture, I’m asking whether the following questions or standards are "fair” or Biblically supportable in helping individuals help themselves and others they have concern for evaluate teachers, preachers and their teachings.
Questions to be asked concerning teachers and teaching or preachers and preaching :
Accuracy in handling the Word. Clarity. Spiritually taught. Spirit taught Interpretation or giving of the meaning.
Leading of the Spirit. Unction and power from the Spirit. Is Christ supreme? Faithfulness to God (will, thoughts, heart). Does the teaching seem planned, designed and prepared to equip the saints for the work of ministry by increasing their knowledge of and revealing to their minds and hearts the glory of Jesus unto the building up of the body in maturity or Christlikeness.
Motive ? Goals ? Agenda ? Love? Humility (putting the hearers’ interest first in attitude and concern )?, Glory for God and not self actuated, self promoting or self centered ? God pleasing or man pleasing. Is the teaching delivered in fear, trembling and much weakness ?
Calling and gifting apparent.
Character of teacher. Is their life (speech and conduct). marked by obvious progress in faith, love and purity becoming an example of the Word to their hearers (1 Timothy 4).
Outcome, success in spreading the aroma of Christ, God given growth, fruitfulness.
