Don’t get up from the operating table - Brent Williamson

sermonindex Dec 6, 2023

Don’t get up from the operating table wile the surgery is ongoing:
The Lord seemed He almost had to hog tie Israel in the wilderness from leaving, and thats usually what will happen in times of anxiety.
I’ll admit in these last seven months there’s been several times I have looked for ways and sought for ways to hurry this transition, because the longer we stay the more is being stripped away. Recently, I felt saying to the Lord there will be nothing left if this keeps happening.…I heard the Lord say very clearly, saying "Exactly”.
The wilderness is a season God puts His people in to strip them of everything they held dear, and for God to be their only source of sustainable life.

The crushing is never an easy process.
I heard an old missionary who experienced a revival in South America many years ago say….

"We want revival and it’s glorious but when does God come, He sees your heart in half and says here’s you!”
How many times have we left the wilderness and God wasn’t done yet? We wanted to hurry up and get into a ministry. The temptation is to think we are ready because of what we endured, and there can’t be anything else for God to strip, but that is where we can’t allow our feelings and emotions to get in the way of His open heart surgery. That’s what kept Israel in the wilderness longer sometimes because their feelings kept getting in the way, and that sometimes can be the last thing crucified!

The Lord is preparing us and it may hurt a lot at times, but in the end, He will have a vessel He can work through to achieve His purposes.

Many Christians are praying the wrong prayers when they are in a fiery trial. Not Lord, get me out of this trial as soon as possible, but Lord, do a purifying work in me through this trial that I may come forth as gold refined in the fire.

"Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.” (1Peter 4:12,13)

"Don’t waste your trials.”

Heb 12:10-11.

For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness.
For the moment, all discipline seems not to be pleasant, but painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness

Christlikeness is the primary purpose end reward of suffering. There is a lot of groaning until that is accomplished, individually and corporately.
