I've been reading Hebrews and this one saying keeps popping up."Hold firmly."
"But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory." Hebrews 3:6
"We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end." Hebrews 3:14
"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess." Hebrews 4:14
"Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrews 4:16
Read each of these and understand what is being taught.The first two teach us that in order to be his house and share in Christ we have to hold firmly."If indeed we hold..." the last two show us why we should hold so dearly and that's because we have a great and merciful high priest.We should be confident not uncertain in what we believe.If one has confidence but has no idea why then they are fools.Do not be fools!Be confident in the Lord but also know why you are;for if the world looks at you being confident but with no real reason then you represent Christ in a wrong way.Christ was confident but confident for good reasons.He did not go to the cross wondering "Is this what I am meant to do?"
Here is the encouragement:Be confident!do not be cowards in your belief but be bold.The Apostles took great confidence in what they preached,we should too!We have good reason to be confident for we have a good God and if we are confident then with confidence we will go to him and not with timidity,for he understands us.If the world should call us anything let the only thing they may not call us is cowards or uncertain people.We are confident and confident in our Lord so then my sisters and brothers,hold firmly to the confidence we have in our Lord.
