"I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.” Rev 20:12
We each are writing a book with our very own lives as the ink at this time. Within its pages is everything we have ever done, every single day throughout our whole lives up to this very point. The only way one gets his or her book nullified is to present oneself to Christ in repentance and faith through His finished work on that old cross. Our only hope is Jesus of Nazareth, the visible image of the invisible God whom God the Father placed the sins of the entire world onto! He did so to offer us a way back into right standing with Himself.
Through Christ, He still offers redemption to a world of people that have tossed Him to the wayside. Redemption is available to a world that spits on Him, ridicules Him, mocks Him, and has continually used His name derogatorily for generations. It was not just the Romans, nor Jews, nor any other single race that sent Christ to the cross, but the very love of God the Father to redeem a people for Himself that drove Christ there and the very sins of each person who has ever lived which killed Him! Out of love, God the Father brought forth His only begotten Son to die in our place on that cross for our sins. He did so in order that we could have a real relationship with Him.
Without Jesus, that little book you’re holding onto (though you may not know it) and writing with your very life as its ink will be all you have with you on that day to come. At the Great White Throne Judgment, God will judge all for what they have done based off of their own book they have each written with their very own lives. It won’t rescue you on that fearful day to come either! Instead, it will condemn you. All have fallen short of the glory of God. All have sinned! On that great and terrible day, you will be brought before Him. He Himself will open that book with you and you will both clearly see your own damnation, and that you refused the offer He presented to you through His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ.
Yet others who clung to Christ in repentance and faith will had already been transformed into new creations through Him and the Holy Spirit of God. Their book will had already been tossed as far as east is to west! Their names will be found written within the book of books, Christ’s Book of Life. Will you find yourself still clinging on to your very own book you have been writing! God forbid, you stand before Him with only that book! No one shall stand approved on that day based on their own self-worth or their own book they wrote with their own lives as ink! God’s heart on the matter is for you to repent and come to Him through Christ while time still presents itself to you in a way that allows for you to come to Him! Outside of His salvation, He has offered you through His only begotten Son there will only be damnation for you.
Now is the time to come to Christ in repentance and through faith. Now is the time to surrender yourself to Him to be changed inwardly and given new life through Christ and the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. Let God the Father throw away your pitiful book you’ve been writing with your own life and instead repent and come to Christ. Receive new life, a new book and begin writing within its pages through His forgiveness and grace, by Christ and His Holy Spirit! Let Him have His way with you while there is still time. Come to the cross, come to repentance and through faith cling to Christ fully, dear friend. Let Christ cleanse you, change you, and redirect you God-ward with your remaining life.
