Christian Nationalism vs A Church called to repent :2 Chronicles 7:14

D
deltadom Jan 30, 2024

In the bible there is Hezekiah and there is Josiah

During the reign of Hezekiah the people repented during the time of Josiah the leaders repented. Judgement is coming and I am probably the person who needs to repent the most.

What I get angry at is with Christian Nationalism in believing in the fact that if we get Christian leaders into power such as Trump or others we can turn the nation around.

It is not supported in the bible. The bible says we need a revival of the average person in a democracy.

Daniel in the famous passage in Daniel 9 repents of the sins of his nation as if they were his own.

As I come from the Uk and I think the church is about as corrupt as the world those denomations such as the Anglican Church or Methodist Church or Baptist Church are just as bad.

Even if we did a revival the churches are about as corrupt as the world, how can we save the church from the world when the church is in such a bad state.

During the Scottish revivals people had a love of the bible and the word of God. I dont think I will ever get to see a revival in my lifetime but I need one personally.

It so breaks my heart to think that by a political leader such as Donald Trump or Constatine can save a nation

as the same thing has happened in our country we thought boris could save us from the eu and implement brexit and now both parties are as bad as they are as bad as one another.

We have only have one saviour and he is not going to share the glory with noone as the bible says love not the world nor the things in the world as the love of the father is not in you

1 John 2:15
On Not Loving the World
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

When is the church going to fight the battle on its knees rather than fighting in the ballot box.

People dont understand if we have a christian population and who are truly saved they are going to vote for someone who is truly saved

Whats the point of Praying for a christian leader to be saved if in the next election they will just put in someone evil because the vast majority of the people are evil.

How can we save the world when we are a church need saving

In England it is shocking if you go onto the baptist union or the joint publications site to see what christian churches are doing

I dont think I will ever see a true revial as I have struggled with sin in my own life and need support and need a spouse.

I wish Jesus could send his b52 bombers and invade my life with his love and attack the church with his love and the bible says unite my heart to fear his name.

The bible does not say may trust in chariots but some may trust in horses but we shall trust in the name of the lord of our god.

There are alot of things we are trusting in from politics and to are guns if you are in the states other than the name of the lord our god

It is one of the things that made me go out on the street evangelising as if people do not hear the gospel how can they repent and I know God can do it, I am a useless evangelist and I am useless at prayer and I am the worst of sinners like the tax collector in the bible

I think people I am including me trust everything else but in the name of the Lord

2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

2 Kings 18
New International Version
Hezekiah King of Judah

18 In the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, Hezekiah son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. 2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Abijah[a] daughter of Zechariah. 3 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done. 4 He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it. (It was called Nehushtan.[b])

5 Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. 6 He held fast to the Lord and did not stop following him; he kept the commands the Lord had given Moses. 7 And the Lord was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him. 8 From watchtower to fortified city, he defeated the Philistines, as far as Gaza and its territory.

9 In King Hezekiah’s fourth year, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, Shalmaneser king of Assyria marched against Samaria and laid siege to it. 10 At the end of three years the Assyrians took it. So Samaria was captured in Hezekiah’s sixth year, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel. 11 The king of Assyria deported Israel to Assyria and settled them in Halah, in Gozan on the Habor River and in towns of the Medes. 12 This happened because they had not obeyed the Lord their God, but had violated his covenant””all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened to the commands nor carried them out.

13 In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah’s reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them. 14 So Hezekiah king of Judah sent this message to the king of Assyria at Lachish: "I have done wrong. Withdraw from me, and I will pay whatever you demand of me.” The king of Assyria exacted from Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents[c] of silver and thirty talents[d] of gold. 15 So Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the temple of the Lord and in the treasuries of the royal palace.

16 At this time Hezekiah king of Judah stripped off the gold with which he had covered the doors and doorposts of the temple of the Lord, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

Quote: I don't think I will ever get to see a revival in my lifetime but I need one personally.

You will Bro...

Christian Nationalism is term used as a smear against conservative Christians who defend the role of religion in American public life.

You will only here more and more terms like this as we come to the election this year.

Hi Deltadom,
The premise of the post is flawed in my opinion.
We can chew gum and walk at the same time.
Why has it to be one versus the other?
God is a nationalist ,in the sense that God wants borders and puts borders in place so that evil may not spread quickly.Thats what he tower of babel is about.

When the elections come round in the US for President ,the citizens including the Christians have two choices between two people .On the one hand you can pick a person that is Pro Abortion,Anti Israel,For Open borders,For bigger Government,For Socialism,Overtly Anti Christian and Pro transgenderism or you can vote for a person that is against all of these things.
It amazes me then that people complain then that Christians support Donald Trump and blame Donald Trump for doing alot of the right things
We can chew gum and walk at the same time ,we can pray on our knees and battle at the ballot box at the same time and amazing as it sounds we can manage two tasks simultaneously,we can battle Abortion and pray for revival at the same time,we can battle perverse things happening in our schools and pray for the country at the same time ,it is possible ,they dont have to be against each other....

Rivival is a word that no one on SI has even defined ,it means one thing to one person and another to a different person .The government cant bring revival what ever it is but it can be moral and productive and this is a good thing and we the Christians have a part to play ,urs staff

The thing is that is why I was likening the fact of the differences between hezekiah and JOsiah as during the fact of Josiahs government the government changed but the people did not

As in a revival the average person in the street changes and that is what we need to see more

As soon as DOnald Trump as I do not think he is a christian , I find it so sad that there are two people in there 70s and 80s ruling over america

What I am sad is that as soon as he is out the country is still in the same wicked state that it was before that is why you need a revival rather than a christian leader

I need prayer that I can pray

The thing is that you raise that leader to a position that Jesus should only be

He becomes a saviour rather than Jesus

Isaiah 42:8
am the Lord; that is My name. And My glory will I not give to another, neither My praise to graven images.

I do not live in America and we have the same problem over here and at the moment I would not vote for either party as they are both bad

The problem is that rather than going to god we tend to rely on who is power when the americans have the republicans in power they forget god they do not need god as donald trump will do it

It seems with people like obama when obama , christians had a national day of prayer and actually cared . It seems like we have all gotten apathetic

Daniel 9
New International Version
Daniel’s Prayer

9 In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes[a] (a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian[b] kingdom”” 2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. 3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

4 I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed:

"Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, 5 we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. 6 We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our ancestors, and to all the people of the land.

7 "Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame””the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you. 8 We and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, Lord, because we have sinned against you. 9 The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; 10 we have not obeyed the Lord our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. 11 All Israel has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you.

"Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against you. 12 You have fulfilled the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing on us great disaster. Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem. 13 Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. 14 The Lord did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the Lord our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him.

Daniel in the book of Daniel thi should be the prayers for our nation and your nation

Hi Deltadom

"I find it so sad that there are two people in there 70s and 80s ruling over america"
A few points :
The US has had much younger presidents and they have been a disaster.
One has clearly got dementia and is being propped up literally and no matter what party he is in this should not happen but the other is the opposite and is well able for the Job.
Age is not a barrier to being a leader and experience and wisdom come with Age most of the time. The bible extols wisdom.
Lastly the Presidency is only one branch of the US government and is not all powerful and neither are the other branches.

"I do not live in America and we have the same problem over here and at the moment I would not vote for either party as they are both bad"

I think this statement is a not correct because clearly one party in the US has sold itself to complete Evil and you are trying to lump both parties together because of your own political bias.Their is no reason in the US for a Christian not to vote Donald Trump for president from an "evil" point of view. The real reason some Christians wont vote Trump is because of their own spiritual darkness.I have become wary of Christians trying to make an arguement not to vote for Trump, not because he is righteous or even a Christian or even nice at times but because on almost all the important issues he has done the right thing.
Check box
Abortion:Roe v Wade abolished
Israel:Abraham peace accords and moved the US embassy
Christians:Invited Pastors and Christians into the White House and has highlighted and condemned persecution of Christians ,as well as attending national prayer mornings.
He also gave Billy Graham a hero of the faith a national burial. He has consistantly been anti Green agenda(which is a religion)

Granted their are other western countries that have gone so far into darkness that although democratic their is no one to vote for as all are evil but the US is not one of them ,yet

America is built on Christian nationalism , if a revival doesn't produce an awakening and in awakening doesn't produce believers in every sphere of influence like education politics business etc you'll just have Neo paganism running the country or the world and then we get Christians complaining about how bad everything is.

Why people look at the first and second great awakenings and say ahh the good old days is because of the influence Christianity had in the government and in education in the arts in the media.

The very founding fathers and the very constitution of America is Christian based and the main problem within the western world is Christians falling for Satan's trap believing that we're not to be involved in politics.

But instead to withdraw from society and have very little influence.

Be the salt and the light of the Earth not the salt and the light of the church and put that light under a basket.
