Habitual lying

Is there anyone who were habitual liars in the past but were saved by God?if so please reply to this thread

Before Christ I'm certain everyone has lied! The precious brothers answered your questions on the other thread. However, after Christ comes to live within you through His Holy Spirit, if you tell a lie He will convict you straight away, when Christ comes to live within us everything changes inwardly! If you have inward conviction and have repented to God, our Father and it has not gone away then repent to the offended person! This also gives you through Christ an opportunity to witness to them concerning your Hope Jesus Christ! Afterwards, after doing all to correct wrongs and you still have no peace!
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John. 1:9. Say that out loud and by faith believe God's Word!

They have given their opinions and each opinion is being different.So I want to know if someone was a habitual liar and got saved,I can ask some questions to him and he can understand me better and give wise solutions to me.

Maybe you mean a compulsive liar rather than just an ordinary person who lies?

Yes,someone who lies alot.Did you ever lie in your life?If so did you confess all the lies you lied?Or did you correct only those which effected others?Does God wants us to confess all the lies not only to God but to the people we lied also?If we gossiped about someone,do we need to go to them and confess to them?did you ever gossiped in your life?If so you went and confessed to them.

Of course I lied before I came to Christ, and even after, before He sanctified me. God did not convict me to confess all the lies to others nor to those I gossiped with. However, if there were big issues that affected people badly, I am sure He would ask me to make amends.

There was an item I had which was had been purchased by illegal means by someone else and I was at pains to see if God wanted me to get rid of it but someone told me no it was okay to keep it (a refridgerator)

So by my experience it is common to have these thoughts.

If you continue to have unintentional sins after finding Christ, then He has the answer. He has to give you a pure heart as sin comes from the heart.

One final thing I want to ask is that,do you have the assurance of salvation?I always struggle in assurance of salvation.I sometimes feel like God is with me but sometimes the things like the lies I told,the gossips I talked,the sinful life I lead in past gets into my mind and I feel God won't forgive me

You were forgiven for past sins the day you came to Christ but, even though l had an outstanding conversion aged 23 and remember it exactly, and the date, after no religious input growing up, l often did wonder if l really was saved at times before l was entirely sanctified or made holy.

He took away my sins on that day and l have never doubted since and this was 34 years ago. Sin separates you from God's presence but He provides the answer.

Isaiah 1:18

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

If you had murdered someone, you would not be able to restitute that but God can still forgive you for this too as per the above quoted pledge verse.

Knowledge or the devil at work I wonder? The devil could try to get you to believe you have broken a lying record and therefore cannot be forgiven. Knowing the relevant verses where God/Christ pledged to forgive can help.

PS. But yes assurance of salvation should go first and foremost.

PS. Because how God forgives a sin of murder should not be any different from that of lies.

That is what I feared, sister. Unless the instructors are of one mind in these major doctrines, it shall but be confusion for the flock. At Conelious the Spirit fell on the folks just as Peter was speaking. At Ephesus Paul asked, have you received the Spirit since you believed?

Shall we not seek to help the baby to get baptism first as this seemingly comes only by pure faith in Christ and not by much and other voluntary efforts or realisations?

It matters not whether there is confusion of terms: it is the principle of Entire Dedication that counts. The Lord knows what is in his heart and will respond to that. It is the heart the Lord seeks.

What you quoted from Douglas seems correct, but your comment at the bottom seemes to be contrary. Like:

Brother Nav seems to be at a stage where he (by the Spirit) was just lead or is being led to Christ and still seeks to sit comfortably there in (to be fully satisfied that he has been forgiven). Then from there he should need this Spirit to in dwell his heart (baptism of the Holy Spirit). Is it not so?

PS. Is it not the timing of ES I wailed about? So we know when to challenge the newly born thereto.

It is up to the brother, is it not, to find himself what is helpful to him or not.

It is okay on that note. May the Lord grant much grace as brother Nav thus seek assurance for complete forgiveness (or salvation). The resting fully on Christ's pledge to forgive all that earnestly seek it through his atonement and are truly 'repented'. Yes, it is very important to be fully 'resolved' to submit completely to Christ's commands (both known and the yet to be known) as this is a condition for forgiveness.

Once you are seating comfortably in Christ, I shall gladly pray with you for your baptism in the Holy Spirit. Until then, we should be happy to answer any question that can help you seat comfortably in the forgiveness of Christ.

My understanding of the situation is this and the brother can correct me if I am wrong, but he has been converted to be a follower of Christ.

However, his previous problem of being a compulsive liar ie lying had been pathological for him, it was something out of his control, and now as a believer in Christ, he has found himself with the same problem.

So he wonders whether he has been forgiven for this sin after all even though he reads in the scriptures he is forgiven and the brethren here tell him he is forgiven. So he thinks in order to deal with this he has to go to everyone he lied to.

My understanding is that the psychological problem he has is solved by another work of grace, available to us all no matter what we have done in the past, and it is in the Holy Spirit's work of making within us a pure heart from where sin comes and which we do not attain yet when converted. Otherwise he is trying to do it in his own strength and will fail.
