2nd Chapter of Acts [nostalgia]

Hi precious brothers and sisters in Jesus,I think ever since I dreamed I was watching the band live, some 25 years ago, with big blue drums that as they were hit, just sent gusts of wind of the Spirit of God, into me and I woke up blessed out of my cotton socks, I am not sure they were cotton or clean, still I was blessed, I have always enjoyed this band. Recently, they laid it all down and Annie, Matthew and Nelly did a farewell concert, and though Annie and Nelly still perform, Matthew who had some really steep trials with sickness is I guess retired.Anyone else love this band, and got some blessings to tell. Just wanted to share. Cool?In Jesus love, Aeryck 8-)

AeryckYes, I have enjoyed and still enjoy a lot of their stuff. Did you see their renunion video 'First Love'. It was moving to see them, battle scared but pressing on. From the same era I still think some of Jamie Owens-Collins work is really good. She did a couple of albums: Laughter in my soul and Growing Pains which are now available on a single CD. I LOVE "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God" and "Reduce me to love". I think these show something of the nature of 'revival' among that particular people group! Back to 2nd Chapter of Acts... they did a couple of tapes of more classic hymns with their own distinctive additions which are still a blessing too.

I'm not a big fan of 2 Chapter of Acts (just not my style), however Matthew put out some incredible solo projects. My favorite is called Toward Eternity from 1979... it's a killer album if you can find it. It's not in print right now.And yes, Matthew has struggled with cancer and is not performing right now. I saw Matthew Ward a few yers ago at a small outdoor stage and was very blessed by him.I do believe his cancer is gone for the most part and he actually still does small concerts. His last CD was in 2000 and is called "Even Now". It is a wonderful CD. His songs are all about Jesus. Here is a link to his web site. You can order the "First Love" videos on the below two web sites. They are very good and they give you a lot of insight as to the Jesus movement back then.http://www.matthewward.com/index.shtmlAnnie Herring is also very active in touring and has a lot of appearances at churches out west. She also has a web site you can check out. http://www.annieherring.com/Chuck Gerrard is also still active in singing at small events as well.God bless,Mike

Yea i like 2nd Chapter also a lot, but the solo works of Matthew Ward i like more.i grew up with that music, my dad has all the albums on cd and also on lp. but the lp's are stored in my room, so i can listen to them!btw if you want to see a video of Matthew online, at his website, you can find it here:http://www.matthewward.com/music/Even.shtml#and than just click on "I Will Worship You"but it they were a ministry, and that is something you don't see quite often, i now only know a few bands who are a ministry. (Disciple for example, well that's a little bit different music). but they went everywhere to bring the Good News, also in the small churches in places "you-never-heard-of"God really blessed them, and He has done a great work! :-)philologosyea bro, i've seen that video too, was really encouraging. and you do have the 3 hymn albums? the third which is instrumental, but those hymn albums rock, love them very much!

philologosyea bro, i've seen that video too, was really encouraging. and you do have the 3 hymn albums? the third which is instrumental, but those hymn albums rock, love them very much!I don't have the instrumental album. Aeryck asked for testimonies... I first heard the hymns in the home of an elder where the church had been subject to powerfully destruction forces. He was battered and bruised under the onslaught. He played the 'hymns' constantly on his tape system... 'they just speak peace' was his testimony. That is an interesting thought. I don't suppose 2nd Chapter of Acts ever knew the blessing they had been to this wounded servant of God; but God knows... and there is a reckoning coming. It is interesting in the light of many of the sermons and articles on this site as they go on bearing fruit long after their creators have passed from us... there is a reckoning coming. I don't even know what Paris Reidhead looked like but I shall enjoy seeing his face when he hears that over 30,000 people heard him preaching after he was dead and that he has some rewards coming...

My brother, your words speak volumes to my heart. I mean volumes. I too, found great comfort and peace in and extremely quite period in my life, it was as I listened to the album 'Mansion Builder' my heart praised God.Praise God!In Jesus,Aeryck.:-P

2nd Chapter of Acts is one of my favorite bands. My friend Alan Martin told me of a time when he and his wife were at one of their concerts and gave me a testimony of what he personally witnessed. First of all the band didn't charge admission--they considered themselves a ministry--they only asked for a love offering. However, when they announced the love offering they did it in a totally different way. They said that if there were any in the audience who were suffering financially, not only did they not want them to put any money in, but they also said that if they had a need they encouraged them to actually TAKE MONEY OUT of the basket when it passed by! I'll take that kind of faith over an excellent light and smoke show any day. Not only would it be awesome if music groups did this today, but it wouldn't hurt to have a testimony in a church like that either.
