Let us all pray for our brother, Michael Hartman. He lost his job last month at the American Red Cross for refusing to celebrate "Gay and Lesbian Pride Month".http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2005/aug/05080502.html"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope of you is steadfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation." II Corinthians 1:3-7

Concerned Women for America (CWFA) reported that Michael Hartman, who had worked at the Red Cross for eight months, received an e-mail in late May distributed by Chief Diversity Officer David Wilkins which declared, “It is my pleasure to announce that June will be recognized as Gay and Lesbian Pride Month at national headquarters . . .”Chief Diversity Officer? Does this mean he has Directors of Diversity that answer to him? What sad and ludicrous times we live in.Last June, an employee of Allstate Insurance was also fired for writing comments in a non work related magazine that were critical of gay ‘marriage’. There are many Christian groups that speak out against homosexuality. I think this case is unique because Hartman was not going out of his way to look for trouble. Instead, he was being pressured to celebrate something that was offensive to him, but might otherwise be silent on.Forced political Correctness and amoral tolerance is becoming the Ceasar-worship of our age.MC

I hope this guy takes them to court. There are several Christian legal outfits that handle this kind of case. I know some believers think we should turn the other cheek... and I think that in most cases we should, but when it comes to setting legal presidence on cases like this, we do have rights as citizens of the USA... and in Acts we see that Paul was not afraid to exercise his legal rights as a citizen of Rome when he was wrongly jailed. I think we should seek legal action if something like this happens to us... but not out of revenge. Our motivation should be to insure that it doesnt happen to someone else.Krispy

brothers and sisters,to one who read the story carefully, though it might not be fair in the standards of a free country, and hence forth every legal action should be taken, i would hope that the person would leave the name of Christ and His majesty from the wranglings between his wounded ego and the other powers.Hartman was immediately called into the regional office in Pomona, California, where he was reprimanded for the e-mail they deemed ?not appropriate.Hartman, who worked to promote and recruit for the Red Cross, felt convicted to pursue the matter further, deciding to contact the Southern California regional office [b]Hartman also suggested that the Red Cross honor its commitment to diversity by hosting a month to celebrate Christianity refusing to meet with Hartman because he had brought counsel,YOU BE THE JUDGE if this is persecution

A friend of mine who is a former pastor of a church was forced to take redundancy after everyone in his department (he was a college lecturer) was given a form to sign to say they would accept (by this i mean condone all lifestyle choices) all students regardless of age, race, sexual orientation etc...Acceptance of every condition in the form was mandatory to the contuning of my friends employment in the college, when he refused to sign, they said he would have to take redundancy then.My friend had no problem teaching homosexuals like any other student but he refused to sign a form that would have compromised his christianity. It is worth noting that another friend of mine who works as a councillor was given the same form to sign but for him it was optional, he didn't sign it either.Forced political Correctness and amoral tolerance is becoming the Ceasar-worship of our age.very true Compton

I had a similar situation 15 years ago where money from United Way was going to fun Planned Parenthood and I was a cashier at a grocery store and we were supposed to sell tickets for people to give money to United Way. I refused and ended up quitting my job over tension between myself and my employeer. I could not promote people to give money that I knew was going for the murder of unborn children. In Christ,Doug
