Hell and Everlasting Punishment, Part 19: Shame

sermonindex Aug 9, 2005

Hell and Everlasting PunishmentPart 19: ShameIn speaking of the resurrection, the Bible says: "And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt" (Daniel 12:2).Some (the unsaved) shall awake to shame and everlasting contempt. "Men and Women, hell is the place of shame, where everybody is dishonered." -R.A. Torrey. What a scary picture! no matter how rich or influntial you are in this life but in hell you have no pride or esteem, you will be in shame with the multitudes. All being debased! Hell is a place of shame, remorse, consciousness, memory, and anguish. To flip this whole facet of hell in another way is, the church will be full of shame unless we start to preach the right message of the Gospel. Oh let us not be ashamed before the world! We HAVE the gospel, Christ, the Holy Spirit, and Eternal Life! Come on! We have to go out and preach in and out of season, weeping over the sins of people in secret. We must be agents of change, God use us, raise up Hell-fire preachers."If we don't get that type of preaching back, you might as well sell america out; we have to get some Hell fire preachers!"-Leonard Ravenhill
