These Biblical ways to identify the message and description of false teachers should help Christians recognize the difference between the voice of a man of God and the voice of one of Satan's “angles of light“."Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and you have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that he does not turn from his wicked way to save his life.” Ezek 13:22 - We are not to "strengthen the hands of the wicked". Using the "God loves you" approach to an arrogant, self-righteous sinner, a false prophet, false teacher or one of their followers only strengthens their hands. Because of our lack of confronting people with their sins and instead, comforting so many people in their sins, and saying that God is fine with whatever they do, they do not turn from their ways to save their life. Love is not making everyone feel good about themselves when conviction of sin pricks and hurts their heart, this is the message of the false prophet. True Godly love is telling them the truth, confronting sin and the systems of the world and trying to save them from eternity in hell, this is the message of Jesus. The Gospel message has always been confrontational to sin, the flesh, Satan, the world and their systems. (Read Paul in 2 Cor 7:8-11 again). The false prophets have also healed the hurt of My people slightly, Saying, 'Peace, peace!' When there is no peace. Jer 6:14 - Most Christians say "Peace, peace" to their Christian and non-Christians friends alike, when there is no peace. False prophets try to comfort and heal their hurt of discipline and conviction of sin, when that hurt and sorrow is what will turn them to repentance and to the heart of Jesus. Eph 5:11 Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, rebuke and expose them. We are to expose darkness, not cover it up, make it feel comfortable and secure, nor discount how serious and soul damning sin really is.Jer 14:13-1613Then I said, "O Sovereign LORD, their prophets are telling them, `All is well--no war or famine will come. A false prophet will teach that all is well and the and the wrath of God and eternity in hell will not come. Paul tells us to work out or salvation daily with fear and trembling before the fury and wrath of a Holy, Righteous and Almighty God. A false prophet tells us we are fine and have nothing to worry about in regards to our salvation.Jer 23:9[Judgment on False Prophets] My heart is broken because of the false prophets, and I tremble uncontrollably. I stagger like a drunkard, like someone overcome by wine, because of the holy words the LORD has spoken against them. NLT-- A true prophets heart will be broken and he will tremble and stagger because of the teachings of the false prophets, because he knows of the wrath of God that will fall upon them and those deceived by their comforting and ear tickling words.Jer 23:1414But now I see that the prophets of Jerusalem are even worse! They commit adultery, and they love dishonesty. They encourage those who are doing evil instead of turning them away from their sins. These prophets are as wicked as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah once were." NLT-- If a teacher or pastor commits adultery and loves dishonesty he is a false prophet, not a man of God. A false prophet will encourage those who are doing evil things like building up money or money’s worth here on earth, or those who are living for themselves and claiming to be children of God instead living every second of every day in service of Jesus, or those who put their family (wife, husband, children, mother, father) or their security before their service of Christ. Living for Self = Living in Sin. NLT--You can tell a true man of God by the words he speaks. A man of Gods words will burn like fire. The words of a man of God will hurt you when they expose evil and sin; they will not comfort sin with false peace. When fire burns it hurts, (just hold you finger in a candle flame for 30 seconds and see) so shall be the words from a man of God. A man of God will speak like a mighty hammer that smashes hearts that have turned rock hard from sin to pieces. A false prophet will preach false peace (peace without repentance) to a heart that has been smashed by the words of a Godly man instead of turning it to repentance and the heart of Jesus which is the path to true peace. Lam 2:1414Your "prophets" have said so many foolish things, false to the core. They did not try to hold you back from exile by pointing out your sins. Instead, they painted false pictures, filling you with false hope. NLT-- A false prophet will not try to point out your sins but rather fill you with false security of salvation and make you comfortable in your sins.Jer 6:14-1514They offer superficial treatments for my people's mortal wound. They give assurances of peace when all is war. 15Are they ashamed when they do these disgusting things? No, not at all--they don't even blush! Therefore, they will lie among the slaughtered. NKJV-- A false prophet will say “You are righteous” to those who are doing the fashionable and popular wicked things like building up money or money’s worth here on earth, or those who are living for themselves and claiming to be children of God instead living every second of every day in service of Jesus, or those who put their family (wife, husband, children, mother, father) or their security before their service of Christ. A false prophet will encourage such popular wicked things instead of rebuking these things and turning the people away from their sins to the heart and blood of Jesus.Mathew 7:15"Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are really wolves that will tear you apart NLT-- A false prophet will appear to be harmless and righteous. NLT-- Their will be many false prophets and they will have many followers. Jesus said only a few will ever find the narrow road which leads to eternal life. Big successful churches and denominations have much to fear regarding these and many other words of Jesus. Small bands of overcoming, persecuted disciples -- struggling, cross bearing slaves of righteousness -- and self dying, self denying suffering servants to the least of these should be alright as long as the hold fast, fight the good fight, and finish the race in the end.Luke 6:2626Woe to you when all men speak well of you, For so did their fathers to the false prophets. NLT-- Men will like and speak well of the false prophets. Remember, false prophets are warm and gentle, kind and likable, friendly, fun and funny people. Like harmless sheep. Men of God are bold, strong, harsh, blunt, powerful trumpets of thunder against sin, Satan, the flesh, the world , and their systems. They speak with bellowing blasts warning of the wrath of God to come. Like a roaring lion.
